In match number 10 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Australia defeated Oman by 39 runs while defending a target of 164 runs in 20 overs at Kensington Oval in Barbados. However, during the start of the match when Oman won the toss and decided to bowl first, the Oman bowlers were seen dominating the Kangaroos by picking their 3 wickets on the score of 50 runs in 9 overs before Warner and Marcus Stoins and David Warner taking the Australian team to a total of 164 runs by forming a partnership of 102 runs for the 4th wicket.

While talking about Australia’s struggle against the Oman bowlers captain Mitchell Marsh opined on how the game went for them and credited the match-winning performances from David Warner, and Marcus Stoinis.

During the post-match presentation conference, Marsh said,

"Pretty close game. If you look at the nature of the game, it's good to begin the tournament with a win. It's not a 200 type of tournament, so everyone has to play differently like the old T20 games with someone batting through like Davey tonight," said Marsh.

"It was pretty special from him [Stoinis]. He showed his experience initially and got going towards the back end. [On Starc] We didn't want to take unnecessary risk early in the tournament, he said he's fine, it's just a cramp. When Starcy says he wants to go off, you let him go off."

Australia bowlers bowled really well against the Oman by picking 6 wickets in 14 overs of PNG, while chasing a target of 164 runs. Mitchell Starc and Nathon Ellis picked 2 wickets each with Marcus Stoinis 3 wickets by conceding just 19 runs in 3 his 3 overs of spell.

After winning the opening game against Oman, the Men in Yellow will be playing against England at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 8 in match 16.
