Moeen Ali, who recently bid farewell to his international career at the age of 37 after being left out of the upcoming T20I series against Australia, has played several match-winning knocks for the English cricket team under various captains. Not only in international cricket, but the veteran all-rounder is also considered a key player in franchise cricket due to his impeccable skills.

The former cricketer has played under several prominent international captains, from Eoin Morgan to the legendary MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. However, when asked to name his favorite captain, he chose Dhoni over India’s run-machine Virat Kohli. The star all-rounder was part of the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the last edition, where he had the opportunity to play under India’s most successful captain, who led the team to three ICC titles during his tenure. Despite his admiration for Dhoni, he named Eoin Morgan as the best captain of the England national cricket team.

"Yeah, him [Eoin Morgan] and MS Dhoni obviously. But for England, yeah, Morgs was outstanding. Unbelievable captain, leader, had everything that a great leader has and all the attributes that is needed to be, and what he achieved."

Meanwhile, Ali's stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2019 and 2020 saw him contribute 212 runs and take 7 wickets. After being released by RCB, he joined Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2021, where he has been an integral part of the squad and was retained for INR 8 crore ahead of the 2022 Mega Auction. Reflecting on his experiences, Ali praised both captains for their remarkable leadership. He highlighted Morgan's exceptional tenure with England while also acknowledging Dhoni's profound impact at CSK as equally significant.

Moeen's final appearance was in the 2024 T20 World Cup semifinal loss to India. Over his decade-long career, Ali played 138 ODIs, 92 T20Is, and 68 Tests, amassing 6,678 runs and taking 366 wickets.
