1. Virat Kohli - IPL 2016

Virat Kohli is arguably one of the most consistent batters in the history of the Indian Premier League. The former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain shattered all the IPL records during the 2016 season where he smashed the highest runs in IPL in a single edition. Kohli notched up a blistering total of 973 runs from a total of 16 matches in IPL 2016 at an outstanding average of more than 81. The right-handed batsman had an impressive strike-rate of over 152 which included as many as 7 half-centuries and 4 hundreds.

Virat Kohli also became the first players in the history of the T20 competition to score 4 hundreds in a single edition which is the most centuries in IPL by a player in a single season. At this moment, the 35-year-old cricketer holds the record for the most runs in IPL 2024 having mustered 379 runs from 8 games at an average of 63.17. Kohli has the most runs in IPL history as he has scored 7263 runs that includes 50 fifties and 7 centuries. 

2. Shubman Gill - IPL 2023

India's talented young batsman Shubman Gill had a sensational Indian Premier League 2023 season for the Gujarat Titans (GT) and he was one of the main reasons why his franchise ended up as the runners-up in that edition and also won their maiden title in IPL 2022. He racked up an excellent total of 890 runs in 17 games during IPL 2023 season at a brilliant average of close to 60. The right-handed opening batsman scored a total of 4 half-centuriess and 3 hundreds in that staggering season. Shubman also became just the second Indian and fourth overall cricketer to surpass the 800-run mark in a single IPL season. During that same season, he racked up his highest score in IPL history having scored 129 runs against Mumbai Indians in the playoffs. The Gujarat Titans captain holds the sixth spot in the list of most runs in IPL 2024 with 298 runs from 8 games. 

3. Jos Buttler - IPL 2022

While playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Jos Buttler looked in a stupendous form with the bat in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. The swashbuckling England wicket-keeper batsman is at the third position amongst the top scorers in a single IPL season having smashed 863 runs in 17 IPL games during 2022. He also equalled Virat Kohli's record for most hundreds in a singe IPL season having registered as many as four centuries. Buttler had an excellent average of over 57 and an impressive strike-rate of nearly 150 in IPL 2022 where the Rajasthan Royals qualified for the finals. 

4. David Warner - IPL 2016

Virat Kohli was surely very high on the charts during the 2016 season of the IPL while talking about the best performers, however, former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner was also not much behind. While talking about the IPL updates and records, Warner is definitely one of the legendary overseas batter in the history of the T20 tournament. The southpaw opening batsman blasted a tally of 848 runs from as many as 17 games and also captained the Sunrisers Hyderabad towards their maiden IPL title in 2016 having defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the finals. He ended up scoring a total of 9 fifties with an average of 60.57 and a strike-rate of 151.42 in that season of the IPL.

5. Kane Williamson - IPL 2018

While captaining the Sunrisers Hyderabad during the Indian Premier League 2018 season, Kane Williamson was batting in an exceptional form. Williamson notched up as many as 9 half-centuries in that edition at a batting average of more than 52 and a strike-rate of nearly 145.
