It’s been 10 days since the start of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, where a total of 55 group stage matches will be played between 20 teams across the 9 beautiful destinations in the USA and West Indies. In these 10 days, we have witnessed several exciting matches between the top teams of the world, where they are putting their every effort till the last ball for their country, whether it’s the mega clash of India vs Pakistan or the USA's first victory in the ICC events after defeating Canada in the inaugural match of the marquee event. 

In the bowlers dominating the tournament, do you know there are some batsmen who have scored the most runs in the  ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 till now and leading their respective teams from the front? Through this new piece, we will talk about the 3 leading run-scorers of the tournament so far.

1. Rahmanullah Gurbaz

On number 1, we have Afghanistan’s wicket-keeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who has scored the most runs in the tournament by scoring 156 runs in 2 games with an average of 78 on a strike rate of 150 plus. These runs came at the time when Afghans were playing against Uganda and New Zealand, where the right-hand batsman scored 76 and 80 runs, respectively. With these 2 impressive knocks by Gurbaz, Afghanistan managed to win in their first 2 games of the marquee event and one of them came against a team like New Zealand, who have got top fast bowlers in their team. 2. Aaron Jones 

Aaron Jones is on number 2 on this list after scoring 130 runs in 2 games for the debutant United States of America, which helped his team win 2 out of 2 games in the tournament. Jones played a match-winning knock in the opening game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 against Canada by scoring 94 runs when his team were 2 wickets down on the score of 42 runs while chasing a mammoth total of 197. 

The right-handed batsman is no doubt a match-winner for his team in the ongoing tournament, after playing a match-winning knock against Canada, Jones scored 36 crucial runs, which helped them to tie the match against a top team like Pakistan. United States of America is in the 2nd position on the points table after winning back-to-back games against Canada and USA, they will be playing against the table topper India on June 12th, 2024

3. Ibrahim Zadran

Another player who has impressed everyone with his batting skill is no other than, Ibrahim Zadran, who plays for the Afghanistan team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Zadran has scored a total of 114 runs in 2 games for the Afghan nation, with an average of 52 having a strike rate of more than 131.

It would not be wrong to say that when it comes to the shorter format of the game the Afghanistan team gives strong competition to other teams with their spin bowling attacks of Rashid, Noor and Nabi and young batters like Gurbaz and Zadran at the top of the order.

Ibrahim Zadran is the 2nd highest scorer from the Afghanistan team after Rahmanullah Gurabaz, who has scored  156 runs in 2 games. Zadran has scored 77 and 40 runs in the first 2 games, which helped the Afghanistan team to win the game.
