No Chennai Super Kings fan will ever forget the date, April 25 2010. It's a date etched in history for the Chennai Super Kings. It was on this very day back in 2010 that the Whistlepodu Army, led by legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni, were crowned champions of the Indian Premier League for the very first time, beating high-flying Mumbai Indians in the final at the DY Patil stadium in Mumbai. With Thala Dhoni winning the toss and opting to bat first, CSK's legendary openers Murali Vijay and Matthew Hayden got the team off to a decent start, putting on 44 runs in 7 overs.

After a flurry of wickets in the middle phase, Chinna Thala Suresh Raina, who walked in at No.3, anchored the innings, while Thala Dhoni scored a quickfire 22 from 15. The pair added a crucial 72-run partnership for the fourth wicket as Raina and Dhoni rescued the team from 67/3 to 139/4. Suresh Raina bought his fifty off just 24 balls. South African allrounder Albie Morkel scored a useful 15 at the death before Aniruddha Srikanth finished the innings in style to take CSK to 168/5 from their 20 overs.

Doug Bollinger (4-0-31-1) struck in the second over of the chase after he managed to dismiss Star Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan for a duck. Abhishek Nayar and Mumbai captain Sachin Tendulkar were looking to take the game away from the Super Kings with a solid 66-run stand. However, Raina brought CSK back into the game in the 12th over, taking the wickets of Nayar (27) and Harbhajan Singh. Shadab Jakati (3-0-26-2) followed it with a game-changing 15th over after he sent back the dangerous Sachin Tendulkar (48) and Saurabh Tiwary in the same over.

The wily Muttiah Muralitharan dismissed JP Duminy for just 6. Then came the dangerous Kieron Pollard, who joined Ambati Rayudu in the middle. The pair looked set to take the game away before Rayudu was runout. A brilliant tactical decision from captain MS Dhoni paid off after Pollard struck the ball straight to Hayden at straightish mid-off just behind the bowler. Bollinger defended 27 in the last overs as they won the final by 22 runs. The Super Kings went on a super run after this incredible win as they managed to clinch the Champions League T20 in South Africa.
