The 2-Test series between Bangladesh and Pakistan has turned into an interesting contest where guests are required to chase 143 runs on the final day of the series with 10 wickets in hand. Meanwhile, the home team requires 10 wickets to win the match and save them from the embarrassment of being whitewashed for the first time in history against Bangladesh, whom they have dominated till now by winning 11 games out of 13 before the opening match of the series, which was won by 10 wickets.
However, after failing to perform in the opening match, the Pakistan team is seen fighting hard in the 2nd Test, where during the first innings their captain Shan Masood and openers stood up after the fall of the first wicket on the score of 0 runs and took the team to 106 runs for the 2nd wicket by forming a partnership of 106 runs. Later, a batting all-rounder fought hard to take the team to a decent total of 274 runs when wickets were falling at one end.
Meanwhile, talking about bowling, it would not be wrong to say that they didn’t disappoint like the previous game and sent half of the Bangladesh team to the pavilion with a score of just 26 runs before senior player Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz saved them from the follow-on by forming a record partnership of 165 runs for the 7th wicket, taking his team to 262 runs.
In the second innings, Bangladesh bowlers dominated the Pakistan team by picking 6 wickets on a score of 81 runs with their impeccable bowling. However, Rizwan and Agha Salman fought back and took them to 172 runs.
Throwing light on this, Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie feels his team has no option but to believe that it can secure a win and level the series 1-1. Going into the final day, the task is cut out, with the visitors needing just 143 runs to win with all their wickets in hand.
"Admittedly, the odds are probably in favour of Bangladesh," Gillespie said after the fourth day's play. "We don't shy away from that, but we've already lost if we walk out there expecting to lose. We took 6 for 26 in the first innings so we know that we can have an impact with the ball if we bowl really well."
"I hope we get on tomorrow so we can try and win a Test match. We've got to have that mindset. Because if we walk out there expecting to lose, well, I guarantee you will lose. But if we walk out there with the mindset and the belief that we can try and shake this game up, then there's hope. Sometimes, you need those 50-50 things to go your way but we've got to have that attitude and mindset that we're going to go there to win the Test match for Pakistan.
However, it will be really interesting to see how the Pakistan cricket team performs on the final day of the Test series, where they are required to take 10 wickets.
