After Pakistan’s cricket team's poor performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where they were eliminated from the group stage after losing the match against USA and India. The Pakistan Cricket Board is all set to revamp the men's T20I team as per the sources. The PCB Team management can be seen dropping senior players and replacing them with young guns.
According to a well-known Pakistani journalist, PCB will bring significant changes to the T20I setup after the World Cup debacle in the United States and Caribbean. He claimed that several senior players- Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Azam Khan and Mohammad Nawaz- will likely be dropped from the T20Is.
Meanwhile, Pakistan might back young guns, particularly Mohammad Haris, Aamer Jamal, Salman Ali Agha, Abrar Ahmed and Shahnawaz Dahani- for the shortest format. However, as per sources, questions have also been raised over Haris Rauf's place too.
PCB sacks Razzaq and Wahab
Following Pakistan's abysmal World Cup campaign, the PCB sacked ex-players Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz from the men's selection committee on Tuesday.
Throwing light on this PCB Said,
"The Pakistan Cricket Board ... has notified Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services will no longer be required in the national selection committee setup,"
The step was taken after head coach Gary Kirsten and his deputy Azhar Mehmood submitted their report of favouritism and mismanagement, leading to the team's non-performance.
