After a disappointing tournament in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the Pakistan national cricket team have started preparing for the next ICC event i.e ICC World Test Championship from the Bangladesh team, with whom they will be seen playing 2 Test in Pakistan, starting August 21, 2024, in Rawalpindi and Karachi.

The Pakistan team has been going through a lot of ups and downs for the last 2 years where often they have been seen eliminating early in back-to-back 2 ICC events in 2023 and 2024. Apart from that, the players and coaches have been seen against each other which led to several changes in the team management.

Throwing light on this, the current Pakistan test team captain Shan Masood has opined that there are no match-fixers in the squad for the Bangladesh series. This shocking statement came during a pre-series conference.

This shocking accusation came when the Pakistan team got eliminated early in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in the group stage after getting defeated by debutant teams USA and India under the captaincy of Babar Azam. To end this speculation once and for all, Masood faced the journalists and gave a fitting reply while defending his teammates.

“I will never question any player’s intentions. I don’t think there is anything that points towards match-fixing in the current Pakistan setup,” the Pakistan Test captain said in the Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test pre-series press conference.

Shan Masood was named Pakistan's Test captain in November 2023, after Babar decided to step down from the role, following another group-stage exit in the ICC Men's World Cup 2023.

His first assignment as the captain was the tour of Australia, last year, where the Pakistan side put up a fight, but ultimately lost the series. His next Test will be against the Tigers, who themselves are struggling in the WTC points table.
