Before the start of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024 campaign for the Pakistan cricket team they suffered a huge injury blow as all-rounder Imad Wasim will miss the first T20 World Cup 2024 match against the United States. The Pakistan team will be heading for their opening game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup against USA on the 6th at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. It will be interesting to see how Men in Green will be playing without Imad Wasim, who has made a comeback to the team after announcing his retirement from international cricket, as they are going through a horrific form where they have are coming after getting defeated by Ireland in the opening match of the 3-match T20I series and losing the series against England by 2-0.

Imad Wasim's unavailability for the first match will definitely impact the Pakistan team's performance against USA, who has surprised several cricket teams by playing good cricket. They came into this tournament after defeating Pakistan in the first match of the 3 Match T20I series and winning their first T20I series against Bangladesh by 2-1.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, speaking from Dallas, confirmed Wasim's absence due to a side strain.

"Imad is suffering from a side strain which has led to the decision of not playing him in the opening match," Babar stated, indicating a cautious approach to ensure Wasim's availability for later stages of the tournament. He added, "While Imad will sit out for this game, we are hopeful he will join us for the upcoming matches."

Despite Wasim’s absence, the Pakistan team remains optimistic about their preparation and game plan.

Babar highlighted the team's readiness, saying, "We have come well-prepared and have a clear understanding of the cricket we intend to play here in the USA."

However, there's a chance that Wasim will get feet before the much-anticipated India and Pakistan clash, which will be on the 9th at New York Cricket Stadium in New York.
