After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Punjab Kings did not had the best of starts as they ended up losing two crucial wickets in the form of Prabhsimran Singh and skipper Shreyas Iyer with just 32 runs on the scoreboard. However, left-handed Priyansh Arya looked absolutely unperturbed about what was happening at the other hand as the youngster smacked two brilliant sixes in the very first over of the match. While wickets continued to tumble at one end, the southpaw kept on playing attacking game and brought up a quick-fire half-century off just 19 deliveries.

He looked unstoppable even after the powerplay hitting the Chennai Super Kings' bowlers in all parts of the ground quite recklessly. It was a massive moment in the history of the Indian Premier League as young Priyansh Arya smashed a staggering hundred off just 39 balls. He also notched up second fastest hundred by an Indian in the IPL history after Yusuf Pathan who tops the list. Arya has smacked the fourth joint fastest century in the history of IPL alongside Travis Head. In his debut IPL season and just his fourth innings at the grandest stage of all, the Delhi-born cricketer has played a stunning innings of 103 runs off just 42 balls that consisted of 9 sixes and 7 fours.

Delhi's young left-handed batter Priyansh Arya first came into the limelight when he smashed a record number of six back-to-back sixes in a single over while playing for the South Delhi Superstarz in the first-ever edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL 2024). He smacked a sensational century off just 40 balls and his explosive 120-run knock included 10 sixes and as many fours. Interestingly, he finished as the leading run-getter in DPL 2024, having notched up an impressive tally of 608 runs from a total of 10 matches at a remarkable strike-rate of nearly 200 and an average of close to 70. He was picked by the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 mega auction at a price worth INR 3.8 Crore.
