In an uplifting update for Indian cricket fans, ICT's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah shared news about his return to bowling. Bumrah, the standout performer in India's otherwise disappointing Border Gavaskar Trophy campaign, suffered a back injury Down Under. Having bowled extensively across the five-Test series, he initially experienced what was reported as a back spasm during the Sydney Test, the final match of the BGT. However, the issue persisted, eventually ruling him out of both the England tour of India and the all-important ICC Champions Trophy.

With Bumrah expected to be on a successful path to recovery, India remained hopeful for a timely return ahead of the ICC event. However, the management opted against rushing the ace seamer into action and risking a more serious injury. As a result, Bumrah was officially ruled out of India's squad for the ICC Champions Trophy. Now, with India securing a semi-final spot in Dubai after dominant wins over Bangladesh and arch-rivals Pakistan, Bumrah himself has shared a positive update. The seamer has resumed bowling after being sidelined for over a month due to a back injury.

The pacer suffered back spasms during the fifth and final Test against Australia in Sydney, ruling him out of the crucial second innings as India succumbed to a 3-1 defeat in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Initially included in India's Champions Trophy squad, Bumrah was later withdrawn after failing to regain full fitness in time for the tournament. The 31-year-old has been a cornerstone of India’s bowling attack, playing a pivotal role in their T20 World Cup triumph last year. He was also the leading wicket-taker in the Test series against Australia, scalping 32 wickets across nine innings.

Interestingly, Jasprit Bumrah was present in Dubai last Sunday during the all-important India vs Pakistan group stage clash at the ICC Champions Trophy. Seen interacting with his team mates, Bumrah was also was also felicitated with two prestigious ICC awards, the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for Cricketer of the Year and the Test Player of the Year award. While India look in a commanding form at the ICC Champions Trophy, Bumrah could eye a timely return for IPL 2025 before India heads to England for a busy Test schedule.
