Ravichandran Ashwin is known as India's one of the best spinners in the cricketing World has recently opened up about his former IPL team captain future in IPL 2025. The mystery spinner talked about former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni's decision to play the next edition of IPL (Indian Premier League) from the Chennai Super Kings Franchise after they failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last edition by getting defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore in a must-win game at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. After an average performance by the Yellow Army, everyone looking for another season to play from the former Indian cricketer. However, looking at his current age it is difficult to say whether he will be playing next season or not as in the last one he was seen getting injured and feeling tired due to which he was seen playing as an impact player for the team.

Talking about MSD, R Ashwin discussed the possibility of Dhoni participating in the IPL 2025 season as an uncapped player for the team. It all came when the BCCI and IPL franchise owners' meeting was held in Mumbai on July 31, CSK officials proposed reintroducing a rule that was in place from 2008 to 2021. This rule allowed players who retired from international cricket for five or more years to be classified as uncapped players as the Indian captain hasn't been playing international cricket matches since 2019. He can play another season for the Yellow Army as an uncapped player.

In throwing light on this Ashwin asked an important question on his YouTube channel:

"Will Dhoni play as an uncapped player? That's a big question mark. The point is correct. He hasn't played international cricket for many years. He has retired. So, he is an uncapped player. He is not a capped player. Can a player like Dhoni play as an uncapped player? That is another conversation. Obviously, if someone talks about Dhoni, everyone will talk about it," he said.

Chennai Super Kings failed to qualify for the playoffs in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League when they lost a must-win game against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bangalore.
