Riyan Parag has finished the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League after an impressive season where he is on the list of leading run-scorers of the tournament, which helped his IPL team, Rajasthan Royals to reach in the knockout stage of the tournament. It would not be wrong to say that the 2024 season, IPL was one of the best seasons for the Assam-born boy, who was going through best form of his life, where he was the third leading run scorer in the ongoing tournament after scoring 573 runs in 16 games with an average of 52, having 4 half-centuries to his name. However, after an impressive IPL season, he was unable to get a chance in India’s 15-man squad for the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
In a recent interview after the IPL 2024 season, the right-hand batter openly spoke about the ugly fight that happened between India A and Bangladesh A players during the time of Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. Both these Asian teams have been one of the strongest teams throughout the 2020 U-19 World Cup, which made them reach the finals. However, India lost the finals and while celebrating, the Bangladesh players exchanged some harsh words with Indian players, which Men in Blue reacted that went into an ugly fight between these teams.
Remembering the previous incident, a new fresh chapter to the fierce rivalry was added during the semi-final of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup last year, where Bangladesh A team initiated the fight and made certain derogatory comments that led to clashes between the players from both sides.
Going forward, while talking about the incident in the TRS podcast, Parag stated that he is not interested in watching the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 because he is not part of playing 11. He will be only seeing the game once he gets selected for the Indian team.
However, after Riyan Parag's performance in the 17th edition of IPLhe can be seen playing soon for Men in Blue after the World Cup campaign.
