Ravindra Jadeja is one of the important players for the Indian team who can not only bowl crucial overs. But also becomes a dependable batsman when it comes to batting lower down the order with tailenders. This Indian all-rounder has impressed everyone since his debut in 2009 for Men in Blue. He has played several match-winning knocks and picked crucial wickets for the team in all three formats, which makes him one of the best all-rounders in the world. Whether, it’s the 2008 Under-19 ICC Cricket World CUP, where he picked 10 wickets in 6 games or the scoring three triple centuries from Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy.

Ravindra Jadeja also comes in the list of bowlers who have picked most wickets in IPL playoffs for their respective franchises. Jadeja has played a total of 23 matches in playoffs, where he has taken 19 wickets, with a strike rate of 17.4 and an economy rate of 7.75.

Apart from this, he also plays a very crucial role for the Indian team in the longest format of the game where he has a highest score in international cricket of 175 runs against Sri Lanka in 2022. Jadeja has always been the key player for his team, with the coming of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in USA and West Indies from June 2nd. All eyes will be on this Indian all-rounder and how he will play a key role for Men in Blue in the upcoming marquee event. Through this new piece, we will talk about the left-arm spin bowler role in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024

1. Picking wickets in the middle overs:

India has gone with 3 spinners for the upcoming ICC event after their incredible performance in the Indian Premier League from their respective franchise. Having the highest wicket-taker of IPL, Yuzvendra Chahal and Chinamen Kuldeep Yadav, who could offer some turn on slow pitches of West Indies and USA. It becomes crucially important for the Indian team to have a bowler who can bowl efficiently and break partnerships.

Jadeja is the perfect person to do this job as his 4 overs of spell are going to be very crucial for the Indian team, where he can be seen bowling onto the wickets, making it difficult for any batter to score runs and put pressure on them to go for lofted shots, which can make him out.

2. An Excellent fielder

Apart from being an impressive bowler, who doesn’t give runs easily, he is also one of the best fielders in the world, who can grab crucial catches as well as save the boundaries. He is quick on his feet, has good reflexes, and possesses excellent agility, which allows him to cover ground quickly and make difficult catches or stops. Let's know what are the points that makes him one of the best fielders in the world:

Jadeja has got one of the best Throwing Arm: The Indian all-rounder has a strong and accurate throwing arm, which is crucial for preventing runs and effecting run-outs. His ability to quickly release the ball and hit the stumps accurately makes him a valuable asset in the field.

He can field in multiple positions:: Jadeja is a versatile fielder who can field in multiple positions. Whether he is fielding in the outfield, in the infield, or in the slips, he is known for his safe hands and ability to take sharp catches.

Commitment: Jadeja is known for his commitment to fielding and his strong work ethic. He is often seen diving around, putting in the extra effort to save runs for his team, and setting high standards for fielding excellence, which will inspire the young players to put their best foot forward.

3. A dependable batter

Apart from being one of the best fielders and an efficient bowler, Jadeja is one of the best dependable batsmen for the Indian team, who can play according to the situation, which we have seen him doing several times for the Indian team in previous years.

This time, the Indian team have gone with 3 all-rounders for the upcoming ICC event and Jadeja is one of them, he will be playing at number 7 position in the batting department after Hardik Pandya, who has been out of form since his return to Indian Premier League after injury in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. So all the hopes to finish the innings or chase the target will be on Ravindra Jadeja’s shoulder as he is among one of the senior players from the Indian team.

If we go through Jadeja’s previous performance in an ICC event, Jadeja played an important role for India in lifting the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. He was the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 12 wickets, which won him the Golden Ball. He made 33* with the bat and took 2 wickets in the final against England.

I hope you all remember the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand, where the Indian team was defeated by the Kiwis and failed to reach the finals of ICC World Cup 2019. However, the Indian all-rounder impressed everyone with a phenomenal all-round show in all three departments where Jadeja had the best bowling figures in the team – 1/34 in 10 overs – and also inflicted a crucial run-out of Ross Taylor. Then came Jadeja’s innings, which will be the most memorable for fans. In the chase, India was in deep trouble at 92/6. Jadeja came in and launched a counter-attack on the Kiwi bowlers. He built a partnership with MS Dhoni and made a quick 59-ball 77.

After India’s defeat in the last ICC tournament in the finals by Australia, the Indian all-rounder would be definitely ready to put his body on the line in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which can also be his last ICC tournament looking at his age.
