In today’s article, we are going to talk about a cricketer who has been the talk of the town since her debut in international cricket at the age of 16 for the Indian Women's team. Not only did she make it to the Women’s team but also, became a crucial part of the team with her exceptional wicket-keeping skills and destructive batter at lower down the order. She achieved all of this in just 4 years, which is not everyone’s cup of tea! 

We are talking about Indian Women cricketer Richa Ghosh, who was born on 28th September 2003 in Siliguri district of West Bengal. She was quite passionate about the game of cricket at a young age of her career, after making a name in the local cricket, the young wicket-keeper batter came to the attention of everyone with her safe hands behind the stumps and destructive batting, which later made her debut in domestic cricket, representing Bengal in age-group tournaments. Her performance was exceptional at the junior level where she showcased her potential and found strides in senior women's cricket.

After impressing everyone in domestic cricket, the West Bengal-born girl made her debut at the age of just 16, in January 2022. She was named in India's squad for the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. Later in the same month, she was also named in India's squad for the 2020 Australia women's Tri-Nation Series. On 12 February 2020, she made her WT20I debut for India, against Australia, in the final of the tri-series. In May 2021, she was awarded a central contract for the first time.

In August 2021, Ghosh was called up to the national team, for their series against Australia. She was named in India's squad for the one-off women's Test match and Women's One Day International (WODI) matches. She made her WODI debut on 21 September 2021, for India against Australia.

She not only impressed everyone in the Indian nation, but she also made it global by playing for the Hobart Hurricanes in the 2021–22 Women's Big Bash League season. After that, in January 2022, she was named to India's team for the 2022 Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. Later, Ghosh was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping price1.90 crore for the 2023 Women's Premier League. He played a crucial role in RCB’s title win by being the third-highest run-getter from the team scoring 257 runs in 10 games with an average of 42. 

In December 2023, she was named in India's squad for their series against Australia. She made her Women's Test debut for India on 21 December 2023, scoring 52 runs in the first innings and 13 in the second. One of the best innings of Richa Ghosh came against West Indies in her third T20I  by scoring a quick-fire 36 off 26 balls, exhibiting her aggressive batting style.

It would not be wrong to say that the future of India’s Women's Cricket team is in good hands with young players like  Richa Ghosh, who represents a new generation of Indian women cricketers who are breaking barriers and making their mark on the international stage.
