Rinku Singh opined about Rohit Sharma's motivational words after missing out on T20 World Cup 2024

Rinku Singh has been the talk of the town in international cricket after chasing 28 runs in 6 balls by hitting 5 sixes in a row for the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2023 against Gujarat Titans. Since then, he has been known as one of the finest finishers from the Indian team in the short format after the retirement of great players MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. He has played several match-winning knocks for the Indian team over the years. This is also one of the reasons that, despite his average performance in the 17th edition of the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders, he was picked as a reserve player for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which India won under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.

India lifted the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa in the finals by 7 runs at Kennington Oval Stadium in Barbados. Despite having a great tournament where the Men in Blue remained undefeated, several players didn’t get a chance to represent the team in the marquee event due to the winning combination. One of them was Rinku Singh, who was named as a travelling reserve for the ICC event. However, he didn’t get a chance to play in the tournament, along with Khaleel Ahmed, Shubman Gill, and Avesh Khan.

Meanwhile, before the start of the home series against Bangladesh, the star left-hand batter spoke about his conversation with Rohit Sharma regarding not getting a chance to represent the team in the World Cup.

Rinku revealed that Rohit Sharma urged him not to be disappointed and to focus on the grind. Rohit added that the finisher is still young and will get plenty of chances to feature in a World Cup, as such tournaments happen almost every two years.

"Haan woh (Rohit Sharma) aaye the samjhane ki koi baat nahi, teri umar hi kya hai. World Cup aage bohut hai. Mehnat karte reh. Har do saal mein World Cup aata hai, uspe dhyaan de. Koi dikkat nahi hai, pareshan mat ho," Rinku said.

Rohit Sharma advised Rinku Singh to stay prepared for when his time eventually comes. Rinku Singh is expected to feature in the upcoming three-game T20I series against Bangladesh starting on October 6.
