The batting coach for the Delhi Capitals, Pravin Amre, believes that skipper Rishabh Pant has demonstrated his brilliant performance against the Gujarat Titans, and he is ready to take on the world in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. After recovering from multiple injuries sustained in a horrific car accident in December 2022, star India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant returned to competitive cricket in the IPL 2024 season. On Wednesday, Pant made his case strong for his place as India's first-choice wicketkeeper for the T20 World Cup with an unbeaten 88 off 43 balls in Delhi Capitals' four-run victory over Gujarat Titans. DC was reeling at 44/3 in the must-win game against Gujarat. Skipper Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel (66 off 43) put up a quick 113-run stand off 68 balls to guide DC to 224/4.

Rishabh Pant was in the form of his life against Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. Coming into bat when Delhi had lost three wickets with just 50-odd runs on the board, skipper Rishabh Pant steadied the ship along with Axar Patel. Having seen through the initial overs, Pant unleashed mayhem in the death overs. His onslaught was a treat to watch, especially when he took on veteran Mohit Sharma to the cleaners in the 20th over.

The Indian wicketkeeper smashed 31 runs in the penultimate over of the innings to take DC past 200. Rishabh Pant finished with an unbeaten 88 runs in 43 deliveries at a strike rate of 204. Delhi Capitals' batting coach, Pravin Amre, shared insights into the batter's mindset prior to his match-winning knock. He also recalled the moment when Pant came straightaway to the ground from the airport ahead of their IPL 2024 training camp in Vizag.

"He (Pant) started with a two-week camp in Vizag, he came there, he prepared himself very well. I remember when he came for the Vizag camp, he came straight to the ground from the airport. He was hungry and made sure everyday he is going to utilise. It is all about his hard work, which is paying him," Pravin Amre said at the post-match press conference.

On Wednesday, Pant made his case strong for his place as India's first-choice wicketkeeper for the T20 World Cup. "And obviously a couple of good knocks gave him the confidence and today we saw a special knock. Finishing was important, and we saw how Rishabh single-handedly got 31 runs against an experienced bowler (Mohit Sharma), and that really says that he is in good form," Pravin added.

Rasikh Salam, the Capitals' pace bowler, showcased his prowess with a stellar performance (3/44) on Wednesday, April 24. Rishabh Pant and Salam's performance on the field undoubtedly bolstered the team's chances to make the IPL 2024 Playoffs. With this win, Delhi Capitals have moved to 6th place on the points table.
