Rohit Sharma is known for being one of the funniest personalities in the Indian team’s dressing room, often seen playfully teasing young players. During the first Test against Bangladesh, the Indian captain was caught on camera mimicking Yuzvendra Chahal’s iconic pose, showing his light-hearted side despite his early dismissal for just 6 runs.
Despite high expectations, Rohit fell short in the first innings. He was dismissed for 6 runs after edging a length delivery from Hasan Mahmud. Rohit never seemed comfortable during his 19-ball stay at the crease and was visibly disappointed after being outfoxed by a superb delivery from Mahmud. Fortunately for him, India’s strong middle and lower-middle order has helped the team recover and gain a strong position towards the end of the day.
Bangladesh, having won the toss, put India in to bat on a lively Chepauk pitch, where Hasan Mahmud made significant inroads by dismissing Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Mahmud’s standout achievement was the dismissal of Virat Kohli, who also fell for 6 runs.
Facing early struggles, India found stability through Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant, and later through a crucial partnership between R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Their combined effort helped India recover from a precarious 144/6 to reach a commanding 339/6 by the close of play on Day 1. Ashwin was unbeaten on 102*, while Jadeja was not out on 86*.
