Shardul Thakur replaces Mohsin Khan in LSG IPL 2025 squad? Check details
According to recent sources, fast bowler Shardul Thakur is all set to replace injured left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan in the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad for the upcoming 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Surprisingly, Shardul went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction after being released by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The much-awaited Indian Premier League 2025 season will be starting off on 22 March, 2025 with the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) crossing swords with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the tournament opener set to be hosted at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Shardul was reportedly seen wearing the Lucknow Super Giants jersey and even bowling in their nets ahead of the IPL 2025 season and the photos are all over the internet. He is very much likely to be roped in by LSG as a replacement for the injured Mohsin Khan who won't be available for the entire T20 competition. According to a report by The Times of India, Shardul has been informed about the development and he will be available for the Lucknow Super Giants right from the start of Indian Premier League 2025 season.
The Lucknow Super Giants will be kickstarting their IPL 2025 campaign against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on 24 March, 2025. While talking about Shardul Thakur stats in the IPL history, the right-arm pacer has picked up a total of 94 wickets from as many as 95 matches at an economy of 9.23. However, he did not had the best of performances with the ball in the previous edition of the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings having picked up just 5 wickets from 9 games.
On the other hand, left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan had suffered an ACL injury which ruled him out of contention for the last three months. He then sustained a calf strain while bowling in the LSG nets and he has now been ruled out of the entire Indian Premier League 2025 season. Mohsin was retained by the Lucknow Super Giants being an uncapped player at a price of INR 4 Crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The left-arm speedster ended up taking as many as 10 wickets from 10 games in IPL 2024, missing a few matches at the start of the season due to injury.
