Punjab Kings lost the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad by just 2 runs in the final over of the innings while chasing a target of 182 runs on the scoreboard in front of Hyderabad's pace attack. The Punjab Kings batters made the impossible chase look possible despite losing 3 wickets on the score of 30 runs in the first powerplay thanks to the impressive knock by Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh, who took the Kings innings forward with their knocks of 46 and 33 runs respectively. The Duo has hit 26 runs in the final over of the innings in the over of left-handed pacer Jaydev Unadkat. However, the result didn't go in their favour and they lost the game by 2 runs.

This nail-biting match went till the last over, like the previous one where Punjab won the game in the final overs of the innings against Gujarat Titans with the help of sensational Shashank Singh and Young Ashutosh Sharma, who scored 46 and 33 runs.

After the Match, Shashank Singh praised Ashutosh Sharma

Shashank Singh's knock of 46 runs in 25 balls helped Punjab to put up a massive fight against Hyderabad bowlers.

“Losing a game is disheartening, because we play to win. A loss is a loss, be it by 2 runs or 20 runs. Huge credit to Ashutosh. We both had the belief that we could win it. If 29 runs are needed, the bowler needs to bowl that 1 good ball, which Jaydev did,” said Shashank Singh.

In yesterday's game, Punjab made a solid start by picking 5 wickets over Hyderabad on 100 runs. However, Nitish Reddy and Abdul Samad handled the pressure of Sunrisers Hyderabad by forming a partnership of 50 runs for the 6th wicket, which helped the Hyderabad-based franchise lead to a total of 182 runs on the scoreboard.

Punjab Kings will play its next match against Rajasthan Royals on April 13, 2024, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad will play the next fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 15, 2024, at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
