Amidst the whirlwind of stellar performances in the IPL 2024, Punjab Kings' Shashank Singh has emerged as a beacon of consistency and skill. Initially raising eyebrows with his acquisition during the IPL auction, Shashank has swiftly silenced any doubts by showcasing his prowess on the field. With an impressive tally of 137 runs in just five games, the 32-year-old has firmly etched his name among the standout performers of the season. Despite initial speculation surrounding his selection, it has been clarified that Punjab Kings had always intended to secure Shashank's services, a decision now justified by his impactful contributions.

Reflecting on his journey in the IPL, Shashank attributes his success to a steadfast belief in himself. In a recent interview, he shared insights into his mindset, emphasizing the importance of self-confidence in navigating the pressures of top-tier cricket. His words resonate with the essence of determination and resilience, qualities that have fueled his rise in the league.

In the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Nitish Kumar Reddy's stellar all-round display earned him the coveted Player of the Match award. Shashank Singh, quick to acknowledge the burgeoning talent in the league, praised the younger players for seamlessly translating their domestic performances onto the grand stage of the IPL. It's a testament to the depth of talent within the cricketing fraternity, where emerging stars are seizing the spotlight and making significant contributions to their respective teams' fortunes. As the IPL unfolds, Shashank's journey serves as a reminder that belief in oneself can indeed pave the way for remarkable achievements on the cricketing stage.

"The only thing is self-belief. Like the way we played in domestic cricket. Like you see Nitish here. He scored usually and took wickets in white-ball and red-ball both. Ashutosh you see that he did very well in the Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare trophy. But the others who are coming in, like Angkrish from KKR,” Shashank Singh was quoted as saying during a recent conversation.

Additionally, the prominent batter from PBKS expressed that although the young players might be unfamiliar faces in the IPL, they are already established stars in the domestic arena. He emphasized the significant role luck plays in various aspects of cricket. Furthermore, he underscored that excelling in the domestic circuit serves as a gateway to participating in the prestigious cricket extravaganza.

"So the players who are coming in, yes may be unknown here, but they are known players in the domestic circuit. We play domestically and they are doing very well. So it is the reward for that. Whatever you do domestically, you continue doing the same here." the swashbuckling PBKS batter further continued.

"That performance brings you here. Cricket is a game of self-belief. I think at this level, whatever you perform, you bring confidence and self-belief here and then you do well here. Obviously luck is a part, but then that self-relief confidence is always there," Shashank concluded.
