Shubman Gill is an Indian International cricketer who plays for the Indian team in all three formats since 2019. Gill was born on September 8th, 1999 in a Punjabi-middle-class family in Fazilka, Punjab. But it was not Gill’s decision to pursue his career in Gentleman’s game as it was his father's decision, Mr. Lakhwinder Singh, who was an agriculturist. Gill has a sister named Shahneel Gill.

You might not know, but the star Indian batsman picked the cricket bat for the first time when he was just 3 years old. Seeing his son’s interest Gill’s father started to train him where he used to bowl around 700 balls per day. Later, he moved his family to Mohali, near Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali, so Gill, could be trained properly.

Shubaman Gill is having humous of dating Ridhima Pandit, who is an Indian actress and model. While talking about the Indian actress, Ridhima Pandit, came into the limelight for her role as Rajni in the popular Hindi TV show, 'Bahu Humari Rajni Kant'. The beautiful model also participated in the famous reality show named Khatron Ke Khiladi 9 where she finished as the second runner-up. She is a quite popular name in the Indian television drama at this moment. Shubman Gill’s Domestic Career

Gill’s father's hard work paved off as after seeing Gill’s batting in the nets during the practice session, former Indian cricketer Krsan Ghavri asked his father to send him to the Under-19 all-India pace bowlers' camp, where he faced the Under-19-ballers in the nets perfectly for which he was named in Punjab’s under-19 team. At the age of just 14, the 24-year-old right-handed batter scored 351 runs, during an Inter-District Under-16 match against Amritsar. Later, he scored a double century from Punjab in the Vijay Merchant Trophy.

Just after scoring a double century from Punjab in the Vijay Merchant Trophy, Gill made his List A debut after 2 years for Punjab in the 2016-17 Vijay-Hazare Trophy on 25 February 2017 against Vidharbha, during which he scored 11 runs before being run out. However, in the second match only Gill scored his maiden List A century, scoring 121 runs off 129 balls. Next year, he made his first-class debut against Bengal in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy on 17 November 2017.

2018 

In the year 2018, after showing his class in the domestic and List A matches for Punjab, Gill was named in India C's squad for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy, where in the final match against India A he scored an unbeaten century, which helped his team to reach in the finals. 

Who can forget Shubman Gill's knock against Hyderabad where he single-handedly helped Punjab to win the match when they were required to chase 338 runs in 57 overs, he played a match-winning knock of 148 runs to draw the match. During the 2018-19 Ranji season, Gill scored the most runs of the tournament and finished with 728 runs in 5 games.

International Career

Shubman Gill made his debut for the Indian team in January 2019, against New Zealand. However, he didn't get a chance to play in the first 3 ODIs. On 31 January 2019, he made his ODI debut for India, playing in the fourth ODI match of the series at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

After becoming the youngest Indian batsman to score a double hundred in a first-class match, the 24-year-old batsman was selected in India's Test squad for their series against South Africa but didn’t get a chance to play. However, in the 2020  Border-Gavaskar series, Shubman made his debut and in the 4th Test Match, he played a match-winning knock of 91 runs off 146 balls at the Gabba cricket ground, playing a key role in winning the series for the Indian team. After this match, Gill became a key player of the Indian test team as he had 119 runs in 4 matches, in the England series in 2021 and was also part of the playing 11 of the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand. During the India tour of the West Indies and USA, Gill was the leading run-scorer of the Indian team in 2 match series with 205 runs in three matches, including a 98-n-out in the third ODI. For his incredible performance during the series, he was also awarded with Player of the series award.

Shubman Gill’s maiden ODI  Hundred came against Zimbabwe in the third match of the ODI series. He was again rewarded with the player of the Series award after scoring most runs, which helped the Men in Blue to win the series by 3-0.

Gill made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut on 3 January 2023, against Sri Lanka. He scored seven runs from five balls in that match. However, In the ODI series, Gill scored 207 runs and was the second-highest run-scorer of the series behind Virat Kohli.

Shubman Sensational Gill

After scoring a double hundred against New Zealand in the first match of the series, he became the youngest batsman to score a double century in ODIs in men's international cricket. He played a sensational knock of 208 runs. During the third match, Gill scored his maiden T20I century, scoring an unbeaten 126 off 63 balls, and became the 5th Indian batsman to score a century in all formats of international cricket. He also holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in men's T20Is

Shubman's Gill Records

  • In November 2019, he became the youngest cricketer to lead a side in the tournament. He was 20 years and 57 days old, beating Virat Kohli's record, who was 21 years 124 days old during the 2009–10 tournament
  • In August 2019, Gill set a record as the youngest Indian batsman to score a double century in a first-class match
  • He became the fifth Indian batsman to hit a double century in ODIs, and he is currently the youngest batsman to score a double century in ODIs in men's international cricket.
  • 5th Indian batsman to score a century in all formats of international cricket
  • He holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in men's T20I
  • Fastest batsman to cross 2000 runs in ODI cricket
  • Shubman Gill also holds the record of having the second-highest batting average in One Day International
  • Seventh batsman to have scored the most runs in a calendar year in 50 0ver format. Gill achieved this record after scoring 1584 runs in 2023.

Apart from being a talented batter Shubman Gill is a gareat captain which he has proved doing captaincy of different teams on several occasions. Currenlty, the star batsman is the captain of Gujarat Titans team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has scored most runs in IPL Playoffs.

The right-handed batter has played 99 matches to date in his IPL career and has scored 3,088 runs, with an average of 38.12 having 3 centuries and 20 half-centuries under his name with the highest score in IPL of 129 runs. However, Shubman Gill is way below in the list of most runs in IPL 2024.
