Finally! The wait is over for the squad for the T20 World Cup as the Indian team has announced their 15 Men Squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be starting from June 1st in West Indies and the United States of America (USA) after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. With this, India became the third team after New Zealand and England to announce their squad for the marquee event. India has made a strong squad after looking at the two teams, the Black Caps and the defending champions England, on the slow pitches of the USA and West Indies.

India Squad for the T20 World Cup:

Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (Wk), Sanju Samson (Wk), Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.

Travelling reserves: Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan

It would not be wrong to say that India has picked a strong 15-man squad for the Upcoming ICC event, which will be played on slow pitches in the United States of America having short boundaries. Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian cricket team, with Hardik Pandya sharing the responsibility as the voice captain and finisher down the order. With Yashsvi Jaiswal at the top order, he might be seen opening the innings with the Indian captain in the T20 World Cup as there is no KL Rahul and Shubman Gill was named as the travelling reserve with Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahamad and Rinku Singh for any uncertain circumstances.

Yashasvi and Rohit, the right-left combination, will play a vital role for the Indian team to give a good start in the first 6 overs, taking it forward by Virat Kohli in the middle order. Rishabh Pant has made a world-class return to the Indian team after his horrific car accident last year, due to which he needed to skip the 2023 World Cup held in India.

Pant will be seen playing at number 4 with Suryakumar Yadav at number 5 in the T20 World Cup. Pant returned to the Indian team in the T20 World Cup after the Bangladesh series in 2022. However, the BCCI and the selection board were impressed by Shivam Dube in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPLwhere he was seen finishing the games for a Chennai-based franchise and it is the reason he has been picked in the 15 men's squad for the T20 World Cup with Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson as a second-wicketkeeper choice after Rishabh Pant on the place of KL Rahul, who was unable to impress the selectors.

India has picked 4 spinners for the T20 World Cup, where Yuzvendra Chahal has returned to the India squad after his great performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Chahl will be going first time in the T20 World Cup with Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja.

In fast bowling, the Indian team have gone with Ace pacers Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammed Sirah as the 2 main pacers. Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh is the third pacer. However, they have also picked Avesh Khan, who will travel with the Indian team as a backup player. Players like KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan and Rahul Chahar have failed to impress the selectors for the marquee event. However, the Indian team has time to make any changes in the squad by this month.
