SRH vs MI IPL 2025: Mumbai Indians look to extend winning run against struggling SRH
Mumbai Indians would be keen on extending their winning run when they meet Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 41st match of the Indian Premier League 2025 on Wednesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
“We are peaking at the right time, we have won three games in a row”, Rohit Sharma said after the win over CSK on Sunday, and rightly so.
With three wins in a row and Mumbai Indians are now looking a completely different unit. The team is climbing up at the table, while out-of-form players are returning to form. Rohit Sharma’s superb knock of 76 off 45 balls against Chennai Super Kings was the biggest positive from the game. With him showing ominous signs, Mumbai’s batting should start attracting more eyeballs than any other batting unit.
Ryan Rickleton has shown shades of brilliance, while Suryakumar Yadav reminded everyone why he is rated among the best in this format. He produced a stunning knock of 68 off 30 against CSK and will be one of the players to watch out for against SRH. On a good batting track in Hyderabad, the middle order composed of Hardik, Tilak, Will Jacks, and Naman Dhir, would be tasked to up the ante in the middle overs and finish well at the death.

With the ball, Deepak Chahar has been doing a fine job for them with the new ball. Mumbai’s resurgence also has a lot to do with the return of Bumrah, who has solved their issues of bowling at the death and in middle overs, to some extent. Mitchell Santner produced a stellar spell in the last game against Chennai Super Kings. On a track, that didn’t offer much to the spinners, he troubled the batters with his variations in speed. He is slowly getting back to his best and his spell will be crucial to MI’s fortunes tomorrow.
It won’t be wrong to say that more than famed MI batting unit, the focus was on SRH’s batting, especially after their first game, where they hammered 286 against Rajasthan Royals. However, no one, perhaps, thought their batting would later become a concern going into the season. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have failed to replicate last year’s performance, while their middle order is the biggest reason why they are languishing second from the bottom of the table.
Nitish Kumar Reddy has been remarkable in the field but has had a tough season with the bat. In seven games, he has managed 131 runs at a strike rate of 113. If you keep aside the century that Ishan Kishan hit in the game, the southpaw has only scored 32 runs in the rest of the six games he has batted. Heinrich Klaasen is SRH’s third-highest run-getter this season but hasn't tried to build his innings and play the big knocks that his team needed from him.
Problems are plenty for Sunrisers Hyderabad as their bowling hasn’t clicked, either. Their fast bowling arsenal is a force to be reckoned with on paper. Any team would love to have the idea of Shami, Cummins, and Harshal Patel forming the pace attack. But, form has deserted them this season. Shami has just five wickets to his name in seven games, while Cummins and Harshal have seven and nine wickets, respectively in as many matches. Notably, SRH played their last game against Mumbai Indians only at Wankhede.
Pat Cummins bowled an outstanding spell of 3 for 26, while Eshan Malinga returned with crucial two wickets.
