SRH vs RR IPL 2025: High-flying Hyderabad sink Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium
The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have kickstarted their Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) campaign in a sizzling fashion having registered a pretty comprehensive 44-run victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Incidentally, under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, the Sunrisers Hyderabad finished as the runner-up in IPL 2024 losing the finals unfortunately at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). It was once again SRH's explosive batting line-up that dominated the proceedings on a flat batting pitch in Hyderabad.
The only thing which went in favour of Rajasthan Royals' stand-in captain Riyan Parag was perhaps the toss which he called it right and opted to bowl first. After that it was pure carnage from the explosive Sunrisers Hyderabad batting line-up as the opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma started the explosion with 45 runs in the first three overs. Then the duo of Head and Ishan Kishan joined hands and stitched a fabulous partnership of 85 runs for the second wicket.
Head smacked an impressive knock of 67 runs off just 31 balls that included 9 fours and 3 sixes. However, Ishan was the showstopper in this SRH vs RR IPL 2025 match on Sunday as he dominated the opposition bowlers to a great extent. Kishan notched up a phenomenal unbeaten innings of 106 runs off only 47 deliveries that consisted of 11 fours and 6 sixes that helped the Sunrisers Hyderabad finish with the second highest total in the IPL history of 286 for 6 in their 20 overs.

In reply, the Rajasthan Royals had a poor start losing three key wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, skipper Riyan Parag and Nitish Rana inside the first six overs of the powerplay. The pair of Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel then batted amazingly well to bail their team out of trouble, composing an exceptional partnership of 111 runs. While playing as an Impact Player, Samson, once again looked in an unstoppable mode, hitting a blistering knock of 66 runs off just 37 balls. On the other hand, Jurel also showed great temperament during his fantastic innings of 70 runs off only 35 deliveries.
However, Sunrisers Hyderabad removed both the set batters in a small gap as Harshal Patel and Adam Zampa came to the rescue. Shimron Hetmyer did score 42 runs off 23 balls towards the end, but eventually, the mammoth target proved to be too much for the Royals. The Rajasthan Royals finished with 242 runs on the scoreboard, suffering their opening loss in the IPL 2025 season. For the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the duo of Harshal and Simarjeet Singh picked up two wickets each.
