During the first half of IPL 2024, all-rounder Cameron Green's performance fell below expectations. However, a notable transformation occurred when he was shifted to the middle order as the tournament progressed. This strategic change breathed new life into his game, showcasing his versatility and adaptability. As the campaign reached its climax, Green not only made crucial contributions with the bat but also emerged as a potent bowling option, adding depth to his skill set. Such late-stage performances have positioned him favorably for a spot in the Australian playing XI for the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Australia, the reigning champions from 2021, are set to kickstart their campaign against Oman on June 5. Captain Mitchell Marsh's recent confirmation of his unavailability for bowling further amplifies Green's prospects. Despite a plethora of talent vying for selection, Green's readiness to step up and fill the void strengthens his candidacy in the prestigious tournament.

As Australia navigates their options, Green's multifaceted abilities present a compelling case. His capacity to fulfill various roles on the field, coupled with his recent form resurgence, adds a valuable dimension to the team's composition. With Marsh sidelined from bowling duties, Green's proficiency in both departments enhances his significance within the squad. As the T20 World Cup unfolds, all eyes will be on Green as he aims to cement his place in the Australian lineup and make his mark on the global stage.

“That's the beauty of what I've been exposed to in the last few years. It's not always been a consistent spot that I've locked into. But at the same time, I'm also thankful for that. I feel like I can jump in at many different roles. I think that's where I see myself this tournament, maybe plugging holes in the team,” Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.

Pat Cummins, the captain of the Australian Test and ODI teams, showcased remarkable form during IPL 2024. Leading the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he guided them to the final, although they faced defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite the loss, Cummins expressed satisfaction with his performance as a T20 bowler, acknowledging the progress he has made. His impressive display in the IPL has instilled confidence in him ahead of the upcoming global tournament. With his leadership and bowling prowess on display, Cummins is poised to make a significant impact on the international stage.

“We played 17 games straight (at the IPL). For the most part, international T20s are after the test series, and you've got to try and hit a yorker or a slower ball, and then go back to a test series. So just getting the pace of the game and executing some of those balls that you need more in T20 cricket than in other formats, I feel really well placed,” Pat Cummins told CA.
