The stage is all set for the finals of the 9th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 between India and South Africa which will be played tomorrow at Kingstowne Stadium in Bridgetown. It will be the first time, the Proteas team will be heading into the finals of an ICC event after making it into the semi-finals 5 and 2 times in ODI and T20 World Cups, respectively. It would not be wrong to say that the South African team deserved to be in the final, after remaining undefeated till now in the marquee event with the Indian team. But before the start of the main event, it is crucial to know what are the strengths and weaknesses of the South African team, which will help them to lift their first World Cup trophy by defeating the Men in Blue in the finals tomorrow. South Africa became the first team to qualify for the semi-final and final, of the main event after defeating the hosts West Indies and England in Qualifier 1 and Semi-final 1 of the World Cup. However, their performance was not up to the mark before the start of the World Cup as they lost the 3-match T20I series against West Indies by 3-0, which was a major concern for the South African team management.

SWOT Analysis of the South African team

Strengths

The South Africa team is always known for its fast bowlers from Dale Steyn to Morne Morkel, they have got one of the best bowlers in their team, who has dominated the world-class batters with their sheer pace and unpredictable bounce and heading towards their first finals of an ICC event against India, tomorrow, their fast bowlers will play a key role in lifting their first World Cup title as they have got Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada and Bartman in their team, who have picked most wickets from their team and played a crucial role in reaching the finals of the main event.

The duo of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada are the leading wicket-takers from the Proteas team with 14 and 13 wickets in 8 games so far in the tournament.

Weaknesses

Despite having experienced batters in their squad, the South African team have faced a lot of difficulties against the spinners and tomorrow they will be playing against a side that has one of the best spin bowlers in their squad, who can single-handedly change the results of the game. So they need to be careful against the Indian spinners who can make it difficult for the South African team to score runs.

Opportunities

The major opportunity for the proteas team will be to remove the tag of checkers from their name which they got after getting eliminated in the semifinals of the ICC event despite performing well in the group stage matches. Although, the morale of Aiden Markram and co. will be very high as it’s the first time they have broken the shackles and reached into the finals of an ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. They will definitely try to end the tournament by remaining unbeaten and lifting the first-ever World Cup trophy.

South Africa team has one of the most destructive batting line-ups in their playing 11 with having players like de Kock, Markran on top and Klassen, Miller and Young Tristan Stubbs in the lower down the order can take the team to a bigger total as well as chase ay total with their six hitting ability.
