In a huge relief, Mitchell Marsh has confirmed that his recovery from hamstring injury "is on track" despite taking longer than expected. However, Marsh admits he can't afford a setback just before Australia's first World Cup match against Oman in Barbados on June 6.

In a massive relief for Australia, skipper Mitchell Marsh has confirmed that his recovery from hamstring injury "is on track" despite taking longer than expected. However, Marsh admits he can't afford a setback just before Australia's first World Cup match against Oman in Barbados on June 6. Marsh, who last played a game for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 season on April 3, flew to Perth on April 12 for his initial recovery with Australian team physiotherapist Nick Jones. After being confirmed as Australia's skipper, Mitchell Marsh came forward and reflected on how he is trying his best to be completely fit for the T20 World Cup 2024.
"The hammy is good, it's coming along really well, It's pretty much exactly where we want it to be. It's one of those things. Just got to get it right over the next three weeks and get on the plane. If we had to play tomorrow, I would be in a bit of trouble. Still a couple of weeks away, and the timing probably sits perfectly, barring any setbacks," Mitchell Marsh said.

Cricket Australia announced the 15-member World Cup squad that will be travelling to the West Indies and the USA for the showpiece event on May 1. According to sources, It is understandable that Australia went with Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green ahead of the in-form Jake Fraser-McGurk due to the injury risk to Mitchell Marsh.
"Anytime there's a World Cup team picked, there's only 15, and some guys have to miss out, But I think we've got a really great squad that we've picked, we've got a lot of versatility, a lot of experience. And that brings a lot of excitement," Marsh added.
