Star New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Devon Conway is currently recovering from the injury he sustained during the second T20I against Australia in Auckland back in February. Conway had fractured the joint of his left thumb and subsequently underwent surgery. The Kiwi star, who played a crucial role in CSK's title victory in the IPL 2023 season, will miss the whole IPL this year and is currently focusing on getting ready for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies in June. In a recent interview, Devon Conway shared his views about the ever-evolving game of T20 cricket, even giving his opinion on the IPL's newly implemented two bouncers in an over rule. Conway believed that the same rule also could be implemented in international as well.
Devon Conway backs the inclusion of the Two-Bouncer rule in T20Is
Chennai Super Kings' star opener Devon Conway is currently recovering from the injury he sustained during the second T20I against Australia in Auckland in February 2024. As a result of his injury, Conway was ruled out of the ongoing IPL 2024 season. The star opener is currently preparing to be ready and available for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies starting on June 2. In a recent interview, Devon Conway shared his views about the ever-evolving game of T20 cricket, even giving his opinion on the IPL's newly implemented two bouncers in an over rule. Conway believed that the same rule also could be implemented in international as well.
"The two-bouncer rule is a valuable addition, addressing a long-standing challenge for bowlers in T20 cricket. It has enabled them to keep batters guessing and exploit various blind spots they may struggle with, thereby creating ways to apply pressure on them in different phases. We've already seen some benefits of it in this IPL, and I don't see why it can't be the norm in international T20 cricket in the future," Devon Conway said.
Despite a captain's knock from Ruturaj Gailkwad and Shivam Dube, the Lucknow Super Giants won the match by 6 wickets in the final over of the innings. Marcus Stoinis was the hero of LSG's chase, where he played a match-winning knock of 124 runs in 63 balls, which included 13 boundaries and 7 sixes all over the ground. With this loss, CSK dropped down the IPL 2024 points table to 5th position by losing 4 out of 8 games. Chennai Super Kings will play their next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 28 at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
