The Chennai Super Kings’ fans breathed a sigh of relief after Shivam Dube struck a four in the final over to help his team register a five-wicket win over LSG at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday. The win came after five consecutive losses and it should give their team the much-needed boost.  Once again, it was their skipper MS Dhoni, who had to bail them out. He is 43 years old but still finishing the games for his franchise. On the other hand, a lot of other CSK players would be disappointed with how they have played so far.

Nevertheless, the good thing was that they had collected two points and could hope to make a turnaround. Chennai Super Kings’s performance is pivotal to the Indian Premier League’s success as the franchise boasts a massive fan following. They have now collected four points from seven games and have seven more games left. There is no doubt that CSK can make a strong comeback and reach the playoffs but there are some concerns to address. In this article, we take a look at three big concerns CSK need to address ahead of their next game in IPL 2025.

Three major concerns for CSK despite win over LSG in IPL 2025:

1. How will CSK improve their middle order?

One of the biggest worries right now is the number three slot. The absence of Ruturaj Gaikwad is going to hurt and it was evident in the last game. Rahul Tripathi has had a disappointing season with the bat. Despite being given ample chances, he hasn’t been able to revive his form, nor have the likes of Deepak Hooda and Vijay Shankar done anything substantial. Jadeja was promoted to number four and it remains to be seen if CSK persist with him in that position.

Apart from Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni, they lack firepower in the batting department.  The players in the middle-order need to take responsibility if CSK are to progress ahead in the tournament.

2. Khaleel Ahmed fails to deliver at the death

As far as the powerplay is concerned, Khaleel Ahmed has proved to be Chennai Super Kings’ best bet. However, the left-arm seamer hasn’t been effective in the death overs. In the last game, Khaleel bowled the 19th over and went for 16 runs. Against Punjab, he bowled the 19th over and went for 14. CSK don’t have a lot of options to bowl that particular over and therefore, Khaleel must improve in that aspect to help CSK finish strongly.

3. Ravindra Jadeja’s poor form - a massive worry for CSK

Over the years, Ravindra Jadeja’s role in CSK has been pivotal to their success in the Indian Premier League. Jadeja has been a massive contributor both with the bat and ball. However, he just hasn’t turned up at all this season. In seven games, he has only picked 4 wickets at an average of 34. With the bat, he has amassed 92 runs in seven games, striking at 115. With the CSK’s chances hanging by a thread, Jadeja needs to step up both with the bat and ball.
