Punjab Kings made a statement win against Lucknow Super Giants in the 13th match of the IPL 2025 at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday. The high-flying Punjab outmuscled Lucknow Super Giants at thier home ground, putting them under pressure right from the start of the first innings. A combined bowling effort helped the team restrict LSG to 171 runs in the first innings. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three for 43 in four overs. In reply, Punjab Kings chased down the score in just 16.2 overs, thanks to significant contributions from Prabhsimran Singh (69 off 34), Shreyas Iyer (52 off 30) and Nehal Wadhera (43 off 25).

Punjab Kings continue thier fine run in the tournament with back to back wins, while Lucknow Super Giants now have two losses in three games, this season.

Here's a look at three talking points from LSG vs PBKS IPL 2025 Match:

1.Lucknow Super Giants’ poor display with the bat in the powerplay

Lucknow Super Giants made outstanding starts with the bat in their first two games of IPL 2025. They got 64/1 in the powerplay against Delhi Capitals and it was followed by a 77-run total in the first six overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

However, on a wicket that offered seam movement early on in Lucknow, LSG found themselves in trouble. Man in form, Mitchell Marsh got a leading edge on the first ball he faced. Aiden Markram, however, counter-attacked and raced away to 28 off just 18 balls.

However, in a bid to hit one shot too many, his stumps were rattled, courtesy of a brilliant delivery from Lockie Ferguson. To make matters worse, skipper Rishabh Pant hit a short delivery down the leg side straight to Yuzvendra Chahal at short fine leg. Pant got out for just 2 runs and Lucknow Super Kings found themselves reeling at 39 for 3 after six overs.

2. Prabhsimran’s magnificent 69 headlines Punjab’s brilliant batting display

It was a day to cherish Prabhsimran Singh’s masterclass knock of 69 runs in just 34 deliveries- a knock that was laced with nine fours and three sixers. The Punjab’s opener got going right from the start of the innings as he smacked LSG bowlers to all parts of the ground.

He showcased his repertoire of strokes, getting boundaries via scoop shots, sweeps, down-the-ground hits, and scintillating cover drives. Be it spinners or pacers, Prabhsimran looked completely at ease, giving his team a powerful start in the first six overs. He raced away to his half-century off just 23 balls- the fastest half-century at Ekana Cricket Ground in IPL history.

Coming at number three, Shreyas Iyer also continued his fine run with the bat. Iyer played the majority of his innings against the spinners and he never looked in trouble. He was calm and composed right throughout his innings and stayed unbeaten on 52 off 30 deliveries.

After Prabhsimran’s departure in the 11th over, PBKS sent Nehal Wadhera at number four and he too didn’t disappoint. Making his debut for Punjab Kings, Wadhera smacked three fours and four sixes en route to an unbeaten 43-run knock in 25 balls.

3. Punjab Kings wins two in two

Under a new captain and a new head coach in Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting, respectively, the Punjab Kings have made a rollicking start to their campaign. After beating Gujarat Titans by 11 runs in a closely contested game, PBKS outclassed Lucknow Super Giants in all departments, on Tuesday.

On a wicket that wasn't too difficult for the batters, they restricted LSG to a below-par score of 171 runs in the first innings. They chased down the score in 16.2 overs, thereby, picking up their second consecutive win in the tournament. With that, Punjab Kings have jumped to the second spot on the points table with four points under the belt.
