Three talking points from KKR vs SRH IPL 2025 Match
After getting hammered by Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, the Kolkata Knight Riders made a roaring comeback with an 80-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens Stadium on Friday. KKR registered their second win with a dominant performance against the runners-up of last season. Despite losing two early wickets, the Knight Riders managed to post an above-par score of 200 runs on a two-paced wicket.
It wasn't an easy surface to bat on but KKR batters applied themselves wonderfully. Angkrish Raghuvanshi (50) and Venkatesh Iyer (60) scored respective half-centuries, while Ajinkya Rahane (38) and Rinku Singh (32) made notable contributions as well. KKR was equally effective with the ball as they rattled their top-order in the powerplay before bundling them out for just 120 runs.
In this article, let’s talk about three major talking points in the KKR vs SRH IPL 2025 clash:
1. 81-run stand between Raghuvanshi and Rahane
Once again, KKR lost both their openers early in the powerplay as they looked in trouble at 17 for 2 after two overs. However, skipper Ajinkya Rahane joined hands with young Angkrish Raghuvanshi and the duo steadied the ship brilliantly. On a pitch that was holding up, it wasn’t easy for the batters to score boundaries from the onset. Rahane and Raghuvanshi ensured that they didn't try to overhit and relied more on timing and rotating the strike.

The duo paced the innings brilliantly and stitched an 81-run partnership for the third wicket. Rahane smashed as many as four sixes en-route to his 38-run knock in 27 balls. Angkrish also showcased his class with the bat, ensuring that he gets to his second half-century in IPL 2025. He amassed 50 off just 32 balls, including five fours and two sixes.
2. KKR rattle SRH’s top order!
Chasing a mammoth total of 200 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad needed a good start from their openers. Travis Head was in no mood to access the pitch and struck a four off the first ball of the innings. However, in a bid to score another boundary, he got out on the very next ball. Vaibhav Arora bowled a full delivery swinging away from the left-hander.
Travis Head saw the length and went for the drive only to get the toe-end of the bat. Coming in as an impact sub, Vaibhav Arora was brilliant in his first two overs. He was able to move the new ball and managed to get the wickets of Travis Head and Ishan Kishan.
Head’s partner, Abhishek Sharma’s dismal run in the ongoing season continued as he too got out for just 2 runs off six balls. Harshit Rana had him caught at slips in the second over to leave SRH in trouble at 9 for the loss of two wickets.

To pile further misery on SRH, Ishan Kishan drove a full-length delivery off Vaibhav to the cover region. The ball couldn’t escape Rahane, who took a brilliant catch as Ishan Kishan departed for just two runs. At the end of three overs, SRH found themselves reeling at 9 for 3.
3. KKR's demolition with the bat in final four overs takes them to 200
Kolkata Knight Riders' innings slowed down a bit following the departure of Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Both Rinku Singh and Venkatesh Iyer took their time to access the nature of the surface. However, come the 17th over, the duo shifted gears and smashed the ball to all parts of the ground.
Rinku Singh smashed three consecutive fours to Harshal Patel and it was followed with 17-run over from Simranjeet Singh. Venkatesh Iyer then smashed Pat Cummins three fours and a six to help his team finish off on a high. As a result, KKR posted a comanding 200-run total and it proved too much for SRH, in the end.
