Three talking points from the RCB vs GT IPL 2025 match
The stage was set for a mouth-watering clash as an unbeaten Royal Challengers Bengaluru camp headed home. RCB finally turned to the iconic Chinnaswamy venue to play their third fixture of the season. Coming into the RCB vs GT IPL 2025 match, RCB sat at the top of the points table with two commanding victories in their matches against KKR and CSK. Meanwhile, the clash between Mohammed Siraj and RCB, especially Virat Kohli, framed the majority of the hype behind the fixture in Bengaluru. After years in the RCB camp, it was time for Siraj to bowl against his allies until IPL 2024, as he now heads the pace lineup of Gujarat Titans. All of it shaped up, but little did the Chinnaswamy crowd know that RCB's streak of being unbeaten would break at home, of all places.

RCB vs GT IPL 2025: Mohammed Siraj dismantles his ex-franchise with a three-wicket spell
The tone for victory was set early by Gujarat Titans, as Mohammed Siraj launched into action right at the start of the tussle. The coin fell in favor of Shubman Gill, who opted to chase against the home team, led by Rajat Patidar. The decision proved right as RCB was dismantled early in the opening innings, with Siraj taking the familiar strides at the venue that was his home until last year. The chain started with Arshad Khan, who replaced Kagiso Rabada in the GT Playing XI, dismissing Virat Kohli in the powerplay. A flurry of wickets followed as Siraj took the mantle.
Devdutt Padikkal didn't even find his footing at the crease before Siraj cleared the stumps behind him, dismissing the left-handed batter for 4 off 3. Phil Salt fell to a similar fate as Siraj's twin strike left RCB stranded at 35 for 3 in the powerplay. Rajat Patidar could not play the leader's knock as the seasoned Ishant Sharma removed the RCB captain for just 12. While Jitesh Sharma provided a semblance of stability in the batting innings, the wicketkeeper could not sustain for long, falling to a fluke shot off Sai Kishore.

Liam Livingstone and Tim David lift RCB to a fighting total with a fiery finish
If not for Liam Livingstone and Tim David, RCB would have bundled out for a much lower score. However, Livingstone picked at Rashid Khan, grilling the seasoned spinner for four sixes and a four. The batter rushed to a sublime half-century as RCB’s score finally looked to approach a fighting total. Support arrived from the other end as Tim David stepped up to make the death overs count.
The finisher smashed five boundaries to push the total to 169 before Prasidh Krishna dismissed him on the last ball of the innings. Meanwhile, Siraj emerged as the highlight of the innings with his three scalps, including the wicket of Liam Livingstone. The seamer made the most impact, maintaining an economy of 4.80 despite the hard-hitting conclusion that Livingstone and David notched for the home team.
Sai Sudarshan shows up yet again, Jos Buttler seals the victory with a scintillating fifty
Consistency has to be the first word that comes to everyone's mind when watching Sai Sudharsan in IPL 2025. The batter seemed right on the path to notching a third consecutive half-century for GT until he fell at 49 at Chinnaswamy. Nonetheless, his knock laid the path for GT's victory, despite skipper Shubman Gill departing for 14 in the powerplay. While Sudharsan waded patiently, Jos Buttler brought the spice to the pitch, cruising to a swashbuckling fifty.

The No.3 for Gujarat Titans smashed six sixes and five fours as he completed the chase in the 18th over. Rutherford played a fitting partner to Buttler, hitting 30 off 18 as Gujarat Titans clinched their second win of the season. RCB collected their first defeat in IPL 2025, leaving their spot at the top of the points table to slide down to third place, still above GT, who remained at fourth.
