Three turning points in the DC vs RCB IPL 2025 match
The chase master had greater responsibilities on his shoulders as he took charge at his original home ground. While Virat Kohli, once again, played true to expectations, his partner at the other end in the chase, after RCB lost early wickets, exceeded expectations. The RCB head coach tagged Krunal Pandya as the "most important pick" for RCB in the mega auction. If his exploits with the ball throughout IPL 2025 were not enough, Pandya proved his mettle with the bat as well. The Kohli-Pandya partnership picked the Challengers from a precarious situation and won another two points for the team as the visitors won the DC vs RCB IPL 2025 match by 6 wickets.
Key turning points in the DC vs RCB IPL 2025 match
The commentators were scratching their heads when Mukesh Kumar came out to bowl the penultimate over in the chase. Virat Kohli had departed in the 18th over after making the chase seamless for his team. However, there was a fighting chance left for the home team with RCB required to make another 17 off the last 12 deliveries. Mitchell Starc had another over left in his spell. However, the Delhi Capitals skipper, Axar Patel, handed the ball to Mukesh Kumar.
The fight, in a nail-biting thriller, usually peaks in the penultimate over when there are runs to defend on the board. However, as Tim David welcomed Mukesh with a six in the 19th over, the hopes were dashed for the team. Matters seized in that very over after Mukesh bowled a no-ball, and David pushed his team to the finish line with a four.

Moreover, RCB have now avenged their home defeat to DC earlier in the season. It was KL Rahul, the local boy in Bengaluru, leading the chase against the home team at Chinnaswamy then. It was Virat Kohli, the local Delhi boy, who guided RCB in the chase against the home team today. With 14 points in their kitty, RCB now sit at the top of the IPL 2025 points table. Just one more win from here would bring them closer to playoff contention.
DC batters failed to fight the tight spells by RCB bowlers until Tristan Stubbs played the saviour in the death
Rajat Patidar won the toss and made the decision to chase in the DC vs RCB fixture. The wicket in Delhi played a bit tricky as the RCB bowlers banked on the surface. Josh Hazlewood removed Abishek Porel early in the powerplay after the opener threatened the attack with two sixes and as many fours. Yash Dayal kept the momentum up in the powerplay by removing Karun Nair cheaply. While Faf du Plessis managed to clinch a semblance of stability, his stay was not a long one as the opener departed in the 10th over against Krunal Pandya at just 22 off 26.

Axar Patel departed after a gruelling 15 off 13 against Hazlewood as KL Rahul tried to fight with a gritty knock. However, RCB claimed dominance back as Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck twice in the same over, removing Rahul at 41 off 39 and sending Ashutosh Sharma back in a blink. Just like that, DC was reduced to 120 for 6. But, tides turned for the good from there for the home team as Tristan Stubbs took charge. Vipraj Nigam, with a six, and Stubbs, with two boundaries, grilled Josh Hazlewood for 17 runs in the 18th over to push the DC score to a challenging total.
Stubbs then took on Yash Dayal in the penultimate over to hit 4, 6, 0, 4 as the 19th over went for 19 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, in the last over, pulled the strings back by removing Stubbs at 34 off 18 after Vipraj Nigam had departed due to a run out. The fight by Nigam and Stubbs led the Delhi Capitals to a fighting 162.
Axar Patel gave early threat to RCB in the chase, reducing the visitors to 26 for 3
Jacob Bethell made his debut in the IPL as Phil Salt missed the DC vs RCB match due to an illness. Axar Patel bowled a tight opening over, leaking just 4 runs. However, the English batsman took on Mitchell Starc in the second over to hit a six and a four off the last two balls. However, the fireworks were short-lived as the debutant departed at 12 off 6 as soon as Axar Patel returned to the attack. The DC skipper made 162 look insurmountable for RCB when he removed Devdutt Padikkal off an inside edge in the same over. As the in-form No. 3 departed for a 2-ball duck, nerves ran high in the RCB camp.
Virat Kohli hoped for a stable partnership with skipper Rajat Patidar despite the early jitters in the chase. However, Patidar walked off due to a brilliant direct hit by Karun Nair in the very over. DC looked well in control in the chase as the chances for RCB slowly dimmed. However, the stability that was anticipated by Patidar came off the bat of all-rounder Krunal Pandya.
Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya took charge with a match-winning partnership before Tim David finished off the DC vs RCB IPL 2025 match
Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya knitted a patient partnership from there onwards. With the target being 163, it did not hurt for the duo to play cautiously. The amends started as Pandya and Kohli anchored the chase. DC, meanwhile, kept things slow in a hope to pull things back in the death. Kuldeep Yadav bowled a tight spell, giving just 16 in his first three overs, to keep things calm in the middle overs as the asking run rate charted upwards for RCB.
However, the momentum of the chase shifted in the 13th over, when Krunal took advantage of a wayward Mukesh Kumar to hammer two sixes. The all-rounder continued the charge by launching Kuldeep for another six, and then produced a sweep against Axar Patel in the 15th over to reach a fifty off 38 balls. The half-century was the first for Krunal Pandya in almost nine years with his last fifty marked back in 2016.
RCB entered the final stretch needing 49 runs from 30 balls. Kohli managed to bring it down to 38 off 24 with a boundary off Mitchell Starc. Krunal cashed in once again against Mukesh, finding back-to-back fours, while Kohli reached his sixth half-century of the season, third consecutive.

Chameera momentarily revived DC's hopes by dismissing Kohli with a slower ball, but Tim David ensured there was no late drama. Axar turned to Mukesh for the penultimate over, hoping to leave Starc with something to defend in the last. However, David saw it off earlier than anticipated, smashing 6, 4, 4, 4 to complete the chase with an over to spare.
