After the finish of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, where Men in Blue ended their title drought of 17 long years by lifting the trophy under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy they defeated South Africa in the finals at Kennington Oval Stadium in Barbados. However, the show is not over yet as Women's Asia Cup T20 has just started and our team will be seen taking the legacy of the Men’s cricket team forward.
The Women’s Asia Cup started from July 19th- July 28th, 2024. There will be 8 teams in the tournament who will be taking part in the 9th event of the Asia Cup. Hosting responsibilities have been given to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board for all the matches played at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla. India’s women's team are leading the tournament by winning 7 titles till now.
This ongoing continental championship has 8 Asian teams facing each other; India Women, Sri Lanka Women, Pakistan Women, Bangladesh Women, Nepal Women, UAE Women, Malaysia Women, Thailand Women and will be played in a 20-over (T20I) format.
Regarding this year's Women Asia Cup format, the teams are split into two groups- Group A and B. Group A consists of India, Pakistan, Nepal and UAE. At the same time, Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand. The top two teams from each group will play the Super 4s and the qualifying teams will face each other for the ultimate final match and we cannot wait for it!
