The runners-up from last year and five-time champions in IPL are set to lock horns in the upcoming league stage battle at IPL 2025. The credits against their name in the league's history won't project the fact that the MI vs SRH IPL 2025 match is a face-off perched between two teams from the bottom half of the points table. Both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians finally saw the light in their last match, against PBKS and LSG respectively. The commanding victory over Punjab Kings, headlined by the scintillating ton of Abhishek Sharma, buried a losing streak that extended over four matches for SRH. Similarly, the hard-earned win against Delhi Capitals finally brought the second win for Mumbai Indians in the season. Now back to winning ways, SRH and MI would hope to keep up their momentum as the tussle intensifies in IPL 2025.

Key players to watch out for in the MI vs SRH IPL 2025 match

The MI vs SRH IPL 2025 match brings Ishan Kishan to Wankhede for the first time in the new season. Until the last season, the wicket-keeper batter called the venue home as a part of the Mumbai Indians camp. This time around, Kishan would hope to exploit his familiarity with Wankhede to favour Sunrisers Hyderabad. The batter is waiting to get going after marking his SRH debut with a century in the campaign opener against Rajasthan Royals. The No. 3 in Hyderabad's batting order, Kishan has the opportunity to make it count against his long-time allies, Mumbai Indians. Mumbai, meanwhile, would aim to reclaim their dominance at home after the narrow defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their last fixture at Wankhede.

Tilak Varma

Though not as evident at the initial phase of IPL 2025, Tilak Varma has steadily reclaimed his repute as one of the most reliable prospects in the MI batting order. The batter, infamously retired out in the LSG vs MI match, has been on an upward course ever since the setback. Following the contest against LSG where Varma could not accelerate his knock as per the requirement of the chase, the middle-order batter has ensured a healthy strike rate in his innings. Tilak Varma has hit two consecutive half-centuries, at a strike rate of 193.10 and 178.78, against RCB and DC respectively. Across the six matches, Tilak has accumulated 210 runs at an average of 42.00 and a strike rate of 143.83. Coming back to Wankhede, Tilak seems poised to emulate his fireworks from the MI vs RCB match against SRH, this time in a winning cause hopefully.

Suryakumar Yadav

In a batting order that has failed to find stability in the opening spots, MI is majorly driven by Suryakumar Yadav in IPL 2025 so far. Amid Rohit Sharma constantly failing to provide a strong start and Will Jacks blowing hot and cold, SKY has been consistently putting up the fight. So far in the season, the batter has scored 239 runs across six matches at an average of 47.80, emerging as the highest run-scorer for the team. His fifty against LSG helped MI take the game close and build a chance for the team. With SKY returning to Wankhede, the batter would like to add fire to his knocks and convert the sublime starts into bigger scores.

Hardik Pandya

The all-rounder joined IPL 2025 late by one match, leaving the CSK vs MI IPL 2025 campaign opener. However, ever since his return, Pandya is putting up a serious case of leading the group from the front. In five matches that he has played, Hardik Pandya has picked 10 wickets, the most for MI so far in IPL 2025. His onslaught with the ball includes a fifer against LSG, his maiden five-wicket haul in the league. With the bat,

Pandya has taken some crucial matches close, though unable to finish them for MI. In the LSG vs MI and the MI vs RCB matches respectively, Pandya scored 28 off 16 and 42 off 15, before Mumbai lost both the matches by a margin of 12 runs in the chase. While his performance from both ends provides little to no chance to complain, the skipper would hope to do the one thing that has eluded him in IPL 2025, finish it for MI.

Abhishek Sharma

The PBKS vs SRH IPL 2025 match finally brought the moment that all the IPL teams barring SRH dreaded: the end to the batting slump of SRH batters. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head were the most crucial part of the squad that made their way up to the IPL 2024 final. With the onset of the new season, both were expected to carry on the fiery form. However, their form eluded them as SRH went on to lose four matches on the trot.

Abhishek Sharma, across the five matches, could manage a collective of 51 runs. But the much-awaited form finally arrived at home against Punjab Kings. The opener went on to bash the Punjab bowlers around the venue as he registered his maiden IPL ton. The chase witnessed Abhishek cruising to a 141-run score off just 55 deliveries. The roar of form broke into record books as the 24-year-old is now the Indian with the highest individual score in IPL. With his shackles finally broken, Abhishek will arrive at the MI vs SRH match as the biggest threat for the home team.

Travis Head

While under the shadow of the unbelievable onslaught of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head came up with an impactful knock. The opening stand between Sharma and Head set the tone for a successful chase for SRH despite the mammoth total posted by PBKS. Including the 66 against PBKS, Head has scored 214 across the six matches at a strike rate of 186.08.
