Top 5 players to watch out for in the RCB vs GT IPL 2025 match
Much like every year, fans and a lot of pundits raised expectations before the start of the IPL 2025 season, hoping that RCB could turn the tables this time around. For Royal Challengers Bangalore, it's a massive challenge but they have begun the season on a positive note. Two wins in two matches have ensured that they made an ideal start to the season. Currently sitting at the top of the ladder, Rajat Patidar and Co. would now be keen to continue the winning run without any hiccups.
After playing two away games, RCB will be playing their first home game of the season on Wednesday. Facing them are Gujarat Titans, who suffered a defeat in their first game but came back strongly, beating MI by 36 runs. Looking at their performance in the first two games, Gujarat Titans have showcased that they are a serious contender to win the title. They are currently placed at fourth with one win in two games and would be looking to continue the winning run.
So, who are the players one can keep an eye on? In this article, we have listed out five players to watch out for in the encounter.
Here’s a look at five players to watch out for in RCB vs GT IPL 2025 clash:
- Virat Kohli
Royal Challengers Bangalore's former skipper, Virat Kohli would be pretty pleased with how his team has played in the first two games. Virat, too, has made an ominous start with the bat, scoring a half-century in the very first game. In the last game against CSK, he found it difficult to switch gears but you expect him to stand tall with the bat going ahead in the tournament. Kohli is currently his team's highest run-scorer thus far with 90 runs at a strike rate of 136.
2. Phil Salt
Another player to watch out from RCB dug-out would be Phil Salt. Salt has shown why he is such a big asset for any side when it comes to T20 cricket. The Englishman kept the opposition under pressure by making fiery starts in the powerplay. Salt has looked absolutely brilliant so far, scoring 56(31) and 32(16) in the first two games. The kind of form he is in, another swashbuckling knock is on the cards at M Chinnaswamy.
3. Shubman Gill
Despite getting good starts, Gill has failed to capitalize on both occasions, so far. Well! This has been the story for quite some time now, be it any format. For GT to go far in the tournament, Gill has to capitalize on the starts and play big knocks. And, the third game against RCB presents a great opportunity for him. On a good batting track of M Chinnaswamy Stadium, he should look to make the opportunity count by playing a match-winning knock.
4. Sai Sudharshan
The left-handed opener has shown why Gujarat Titans believe so much in his abilities and why he was retained prior to the start of the season. Sai Sudharshan relies a lot more on timing than brute force, but his ability to shift gears is second to none. He has been complimenting Gill pretty well and his penchant to score big serves well for GT. The southpaw played a brilliant knock of 74 runs off 41 balls in the last game against MI. He is currently second in the batting charts with 137 runs to his name, striking at 167.07.
5. Josh Hazlewood
For Royal Challengers Bangalore to stop Gujarat Titans, they have to take early wickets and the onus will be on Josh Hazlewood, who has made an exceptional start to the season. Hazlewood didn’t allow the batters to score freely in the powerplay, thanks to his disciplined lengths in both games.
The kind of lengths he bowls at and the bounce he extracts from the surface, Hazlewood is bound to put pressure on Gujarat Titans’ openers. He has five wickets to his name in two games this season, averaging just 8.60.
