Without much of doubt, the batters have dominated the recent few seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL) especially after the introduction of the much-debated Impact Player rule in 2023. But still bowlers do not get the desired credit and recognition as seen over the years in IPL history. Right-arm pacer Harshal Patel won the Purple Cap in the last season of the Indian Premier League as he finished as the leading wicket-taker with a total of 24 wickets from 14 matches. The batters took complete advantage of the Impact Player Rule and first six overs of the powerplay in IPL 2024 which proved to be a major worry for the bowlers as they didn't get much of time to find their rhythm. 1. Mohammed Siraj

He was also not picked in the Indian team for the recently concluded winning triumph at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. 

The right-arm pacer ended up picking as many as 15 wickets in the last IPL season for RCB at an economy of over 9. 2. Arshdeep Singh

Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh played a vital role as India clinched the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 trophy by defeating South Africa in the finals. He finished as the joint leading wicket-taker during the T20I competition with a total of 17 scalps from as many as 8 matches at a brilliant average of 12.65. During IPL 2024, Arshdeep took a fine tally of 19 wickets in 14 games and then the Punjab Kings brought him back at a heavy price of INR 18 Crore in the IPL 2025 auction. The left-arm speedster has picked up 76 wickets so far from a total of 65 IPL matches at an economy of 9.03. Punjab Kings team management will once again be hoping that Arshdeep will take the responsibility of the bowling department. 

3. Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy's stocks rose to an unbelievable level especially after his amazing performance in the Indian Premier League 2024 season where he picked up as many as 21 wickets. He made a comeback into the Indian T20I side and started picking wickets on a consistent basis. Chakravarthy emerged as the secret weapon during India's historic win at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Indian mystery spinner finished as the second highest wicket-taker in the Champions Trophy with a total of 9 scalps from just 3 matches at an impressive economy of less than 5. 4. Mitchell Starc

Despite not performing to the best of abilities throughout the league stage of IPL 2024, Australia's experienced left-arm speedster Mitchell Starc showed his quality at the big stage picking two crucial wickets in the finals and helped Kolkata Knight Riders win their third IPL trophy. Interestingly, he missed the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to personal reasons and thus, he will be coming in fresh into the IPL 2025 season. Starc was picked by the Delhi Capitals in the mega auction at a price tag of 11.75 Crore. While talking about Mitchell Starc IPL stats, he has taken a total of 51 wickets at an economy of 8.21. He has been a consistent wicket-taker for Australia since the last season of the IPL and thus, he has the ability to finish as the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2025. 

5. Yuzvendra Chahal

India's legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal is currently the highest wicket-taker in the IPL history with a total of 205 wickets from 160 games at a fine economy of 7.84. He ended up taking a total of 18 scalps during the previous season of the Indian Premier League 2024 season while playing for the Rajasthan Royals. However, despite consistent performances in the last three years, the RR team management decided not to retain him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. But, good sense prevailed and the Punjab Kings eventually realised his worth as they bought him for a hefty amount of INR 18 Crore in the auction. He will be eyeing to once again emerge as a consistent match-winner in the upcoming IPL 2025 season for the Punjab Kings and even return to contention in the Indian setup.
