The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are ready to host the Mumbai Indians (MI) in their second home game of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season scheduled to be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on 4 April, 2025. Both these teams are coming into this match after having witnessed quite contrasting results in their respective previous outings during the ongoing edition of the T20 competition. Lucknow Super Giants are coming off from a convincing 8-wicket defeat against the Punjab Kings during their opening home game while Mumbai Indians registered a sensational 8-wicket win over defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous game.

LSG vs MI IPL head to head battle

Despite missing some of their first-choice cricketers, Lucknow Super Giants managed to put a tough fight in their opening fixture of Indian Premier League 2025 season against Delhi Capitals and then registered a superb victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, the Rishabh Pant-led LSG team succumbed to a poor defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings in their last match. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians once again started their IPL campaign on a disappointing note losing their first two matches against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT), but then the five-time champions made a brilliant winning comeback against Kolkata Knight Riders.

While talking about the LSG vs MI IPL head to head record, the Lucknow Super Giants have dominated the proceedings to a great extent. Out of the 6 matches played between these two teams so far in the history of IPL, the Lucknow Super Giants have managed to win a total of 5 games while Mumbai Indians have emerged victorious just once. Also, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Mumbai Indians in both the matches during IPL 2024.

3 player battles to watch out for in the LSG vs MI IPL 2025 match

1. Rishabh Pant vs Deepak Chahar

After being picked as the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League at a massive price of INR 27 Crore by the Lucknow Super Giants, things have turned out really miserable for left-handed wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant so far this season. 0, 15 and 2 are his scores in the ongoing edition of the T20 competition against the likes of Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings. On the other hand, while playing for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025, right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar has taken as many as four wickets from three matches at an average of 19. In the head-to-head battle between these two players, Chahar has had the upper hand as Pant has a strike-rate of below 135 and has been dismissed once in 2019. Thus, this will be an exciting clash to watch out for in the Lucknow Super Giants vs Mumbai Indians IPL 2025 match starting on Friday.

2. Rohit Sharma vs Avesh Khan

It has not been an ideal start for the duo of Mumbai Indians opening batter Rohit Sharma and Lucknow Super Giants' pacer Avesh Khan so far in this IPL 2025 season. The right-hander has scored just 21 runs from 3 games while the LSG fast bowler has picked up only a single wicket from a couple of games. However, Avesh has dominated the Indian captain in their face-off during the history of the IPL. Rohit has a below-par strike-rate of 84.6 against the speedster and has also been dismissed a couple of times.

3. Suryakumar Yadav vs Ravi Bishnoi

During the last win for the Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav played a quick-fire cameo of 27 runs off just 9 deliveries and he looked in a fine rhythm. He also got some fine starts during the first couple of matches, but he failed to convert them into big scores. On the other side, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi has not had the best of performances so far in the competition. However, Bishnoi has had the edge over India's T20I captain in their IPL meetings. Incidentally, the leggie has dismissed Suryakumar as many as three times in the history of the tournament and the swashbuckling batter has a strike-rate of 122.
