The Punjab Kings (PBKS) are ready for their second home game in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season scheduled against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to be hosted at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on 8 April, 2025. Interestingly, both these teams are coming into this match after having faced poor losses in their respective previous outings during the ongoing edition of the T20 competition. The winning streak ended for the Punjab Kings as they suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals in their last encounter while Chennai Super Kings conceded a massive loss against Delhi Capitals. Thus, both these teams will be eyeing to make a strong winning comeback.

PBKS vs CSK IPL head to head records

Punjab Kings got off to a terrific start in this 18th edition of the Indian Premier League with two back-to-back victories against Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. But then the Shreyas Iyer-led team ended up losing against Rajasthan Royals. On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings desperately need to find a solution to get their campaign back in track after conceding three consecutive defeats against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.

It has been a pretty neck-to-neck battle between these two teams in the history of the tournament. Out of the 30 PBKS vs CSK IPL matches, the Chennai Super Kings have managed to win as many as 16 games while Punjab Kings have emerged victorious on 14 occasions. During the IPL 2024 meetings, both CSK and PBKS won a game each.

3 player battles to watch out for in the PBKS vs CSK IPL 2025 match

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad vs Arshdeep Singh

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has delivered a couple of impressive performances so far in this Indian Premier League 2025 season, scoring half-centuries against Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. However, he has not looked in the best of forms scoring runs on a complete flow. On the other hand, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh has managed to take as many as 6 wickets from 3 matches this year at an average of 19. However, the left-arm fast bowler has dominated the proceedings against the CSK captain in the history of the tournament. Incidentally, Arshdeep has dismissed Gaikwad a total of three time and the right-hander has a strike-rate of just 114.3. Therefore, it will be an interesting battle to watch out for in the Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings IPL 2025 match starting on Tuesday.

2. Shreyas Iyer vs Khaleel Ahmed

Just like the Punjab Kings, skipper Shreyas Iyer batted beautifully well at the start of the competition, smashing back-to-back half-centuries against Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants. It was a rare failure for him in the last match against Rajasthan Royals. On the other side, left-arm speedster Khaleel Ahmed has bowled amazingly well in IPL 2025 while playing for the Chennai Super Kings as he has picked up a total of 8 wickets from 4 matches at a fine economy of 7.50. Khaleel has also had the upper hand over the Punjab Kings captain in their IPL face-offs. He has found success a couple of time and Iyer has a strike-rate of 125 against the left-arm pacer. Thus, both these cricketers will be aiming to play with the best of their abilities during the PBKS vs CSK IPL 2025 encounter.

3. Glenn Maxwell vs Ravichandran Ashwin

Glenn Maxwell finally scored some runs for the Punjab Kings during the most recent game against Rajasthan Royals and he will be looking forward to contribute with an impactful innings against Chennai Super Kings. On the other side, senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has not been at his best so far in this tournament, having picked up only 3 wickets from 4 games for the Chennai Super Kings. However, Ashwin has a formiddable record against Maxwell in the history of the IPL. Interestingly, the Aussie swashbuckling batter has a remarkable strike-rate of 200 while Ashwin has dismissed him as many as three times.
