Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma turn to their spiritual side

Fans were treated to a pleasant scene early on Friday as Virat Kohli was spotted at the Vrindavan Dham. The fan-favorite cricketer is famous for recently acknowledging his spiritual side, possibly aided in the purpose by his wife, the Bollywood star Anushka Sharma. Virat Kohli endured a disappointing run in the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy. Defying anticipations of heading straight to London, where the family has reportedly shifted permanently, Virat and Anushka were spotted visiting spiritual guru, Premanand Ji at Vrindavan in India. The videos of their interaction with the leader are now viral on the internet.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, along with their two children, were recently seen visiting spiritual leader Premanand Ji Maharaj at Vrindavan Dham. Known to be long-time followers of Premanand Ji, the couple was spotted engaging in a conversation with the guru. The video shows Virat and Anushka kneeling before the revered spiritual figure, paying their respects, seeking blessings, and expressing their devotion. This marks their second visit to Premanand, the first being in January 2023. Prior to that, the couple were also spotted paying a visit to the Neem Karoli Dham in Uttarakhand. In the conversation that has since gone viral, the guru imparted valuable learnings as Anushka conversed at length about her devotion.

“Both of you are very brave. To achieve all this in the world, to turn towards bhakti (devotion) is very difficult. I think you will certainly receive the answer for your devotion," Premanand Ji said to the cricketer-actor couple.

During their time with the guru, Anushka was seen holding their younger child, Akaay, while Virat interacted with their elder daughter, Vamika, whom he held in his arms. The visit came after Kohli endured a challenging Border Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia, where he scored 190 runs in five matches, including a century in Perth. As Kohli gears up for upcoming cricket commitments, including the ODI series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy, there are growing calls for him to return to domestic cricket to regain form ahead of India’s five-Test series in England.

Earlier in October 2024, Virat and Anushka were also spotted attending a kirtan in Mumbai, following another kirtan they joined together in London. The Vrindavan visit offered a rare glimpse of the couple with their two children, whom they have consistently kept away from the public spotlight. The couple has now been spotted in Mumbai as they arrived from Vrindavan. With the 5 T20Is taking up the whole of January, it will be up to see if Kohli pays any heeds to the calls of playing the Ranji Trophy or sticks with his plans ahead of the Champions Trophy.
