It would not be wrong to say that Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world who has dominated every format in the cricketing world with his excellent batting skills. Weather it's the longest format of the game, where he has had 29 centuries to his name or the White ball format, having 51 Hundred to his name, he has performed brilliantly in every format of the game. But after Kohli announced his retirement from the shorter format of the game, it's a tough task for the Indian team to find a replacement for a star batter who can take the legacy forward.

Before retiring, Virat Kohli, played a match-winning knock in the finals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa under difficult circumstances when the Indian team were 3 wickets down on score of 34 runs while batting first. Despite not being in his top form, King Kohli was at the crease just like a pillar and formed a solid parternship of 74 runs for the 4th wicket with Axar Patel, taking the Indian tea to a competitive score of 176 runs in 20 overs, which was later defended by Indian bowlers by 7 runs.

However, the run machine of Indian cricket team has announced his retirement after representing Men in Blue in 125 Matches and scoring 4188 runs with an average of 48, having 1 Hundred and 38 fifties to his name.  But Kohli's incredible contribution to the Indian team will be remembered for a long time. Through this article, we are going to highlight Virat Kohli's records in T20 World Cup history, which he got in his 14-year-long career.

Virat Kohli made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe at Harare, where he scored an unbeaten 26 runs. After the Zimbabwe series, he was selected in the squad of Indian ODI squad for a three-match series against Australia, where he scored a magnificent century to make his place in the Indian team.

Despite being 35 years old the run-machine has dominated the shorter format of the game with his fitness and exceptional batting skills, he is a real inspiration for the young generation, on how they need to convert ones into two if they don't depend on sixes. With his fitness, Kohli has achieved several milestones in his career and one of the milestones in T20 World Cup is Virat Kohli has the highest batting average of 63.35 in T20 World Cup. Not only that, along with leading the table of highest average, he also leads the table in most runs in T20 World Cup history by scoring 1207 runs.

The run machine Kohli is one of the premier batsmen in the Indian Premier League. It would not be wrong to say that  Kohli has achieved several milestones in the IPL, including the highest individual score in a single season. In the year 2016, he scored a staggering 973 runs in 16 matches, including four centuries and seven half-centuries. He also holds the record for the most runs in IPL history after scoring 7923 runs in  250 games with an average of 38.65, having 8 centuries to his name with 55 half-centuries.

Virat Kohli has scored a total of 7693 runs in the 246 IPL matches with an outstanding average of 38.26 which also includes 8 centuries and 53 half-centuries in it. Although, Virat Kohli has retired from the shorter format of the game his contribution to the Men in Blue will be remembered for a long time in International cricket.
