He could record 246 and 307 runs respectively in the IPL 2009 and 2010 seasons. 

However, he hit the centerstage after an impressive performance during the Indian Premier League 2011 season. Kohli managed to compose a fine tally of 557 runs from 16 matches at an average of over 46. He smashed a total of four half-centuries in that edition of the IPL where the Royal Challengers Bangalore finished as the runners-up having lost the finals at the hands of the Chennai Super Kings. However, things changed briskly as Virat was named RCB's full-time captain in 2013 and his numbers also took a big shift after that. He ended up scoring a wonderful total of 634 runs during that season at a strike-rate of nearly 140 and an average of close to 46. 

He scored just 359 runs in the IPL 2014 season but finished with a total of 505 runs in the next edition of the T20 tournament. Virat Kohli managed to score in excess of 400 runs during consecutive Indian Premier League seasons in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. He had a disappointing run with the bat in 2022 having composed just 341 runs from 16 matches at an average of below 25.
