In a massive opportunity, left-handed Priyansh Arya is all set to make his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their opening clash of the season against the Gujarat Titans (GT) being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was another disappointing IPL campaign for the Punjab Kings in 2024 where they finished at the ninth spot having managed to win just 5 games and suffered as many as 9 losses. However, with a new skipper in Shreyas Iyer and a brand new coach in Ricky Ponting, the moral will definitely be high in the Punjab Kings as they will be aiming to bring home their maiden IPL trophy. 

GT vs PBKS IPL 2025: Who is Priyansh Arya?

Delhi's young left-handed batter Priyansh Arya first came into the limelight when he smashed a record number of six back-to-back sixes in a single over while playing for the South Delhi Superstarz in the first-ever edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL 2024). He smacked a sensational century off just 40 balls and his explosive 120-run knock included 10 sixes and as many fours. Interestingly, he finished as the leading run-getter in DPL 2024, having notched up an impressive tally of 608 runs from a total of 10 matches at a remarkable strike-rate of nearly 200 and an average of close to 70. He went on to score four half-centuries and two hundreds in the T20 tournament. 

Priyansh Arya also showed his batting exploits for Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24. The southpaw finished as the leading run-getter in that season with a total of 222 runs from just 7 innings at a fantastic strike-rate of 166.91.

During the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction, the Punjab Kings showed great faith in young Delhi batter Priyansh Arya procuring him at a price of INR 3.8 Crore. 

"I would have loved to bowl. I am always someone who loves a chase. Take the challenge. There are so many familiar faces around. There is Ricky. You need unity and synergy in the team. We have got a lot of all-rounders in the team. We are spoilt for choices. Since we will be batting first, we have only one spinner and three seamers," stated Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer at the toss.
