Vaibhav Suryavanshi captured the limelight when he smashed a triple century in the Randhir Verma Tournament, a local league in Bihar. Born in 2011, the Bihar-based cricketer became the first player born after the IPL inauguration to enter the auction pool. Moreover, Suryavanshi further solidified his credentials at the 2024 U19 Asia Cup, where he concluded the campaign as India's second-highest run-scorer. In the tournament where India entered the final, Suryavanshi scored 176 runs across five matches at an average of 44.00 and a strike rate past 145.

The Bihar-based youngster entered the IPL 2025 mega auction as a 13-year-old and became the youngest in the auction pool. Suryavanshi's credentials in the Under-19 circuit led to a bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. Entering the mega auction at the base price of 30 lakh, Suryavanshi was picked by RR at a whopping surplus, as the Royals bagged him for 1.1 crore. Now, as Samson misses out on the RR vs LSG match in Jaipur, Suryavanshi is in line to make his IPL debut. Riyan Parag, the interim captain, confirmed Suryavanshi as the replacement. Meanwhile, with RR bowling first at home, the youngster is currently listed among the impact subs for the team.
