Why is Deepak Hooda not playing RR vs CSK IPL 2025 match? Check CSK playing XI
Seems like Chennai Super Kings have picked up their due lessons from the defeat at home against RCB in the ongoing IPL edition. The five-time champions endured a heavy 50-run defeat against their southern rivals as RCB won their first-ever game in Chennai since 2008. The home team faltered both in the field and with the bat, providing a seamless victory to Bengaluru. Now, as they try to get over the defeat in the CSK vs RCB clash, the team has marked significant changes in the Playing XI for the RR vs CSK IPL 2025 fixture. All-rounder Deepak Hooda has been dropped from the team and replaced by Vijay Shankar. Winning the toss in Guwahati, Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to bowl first against Rajasthan Royals. However, Hooda's name was missing from the list of impact subs as well.

Including the RR vs CSK fixture, Chennai have won all the three tosses so far, opting to chase all these times. Deepak Hooda, meanwhile, joined the batting order as a middle-order pick. However, the middle-order prospect marked no impact across the two matches, irrespective of the contrary results that CSK picked against MI and RCB. Now, the all-rounder has been dropped in favor of Vijay Shankar. Both Hooda and Vijay Shankar, previously in the LSG and GT camp respectively, joined CSK in the IPL 2025 mega auction. With scores of 3 off 5 against MI and 4 off 9 against RCB, Hooda provided no respite to the struggling middle-order for CSK.

Moreover, the team also dropped all-rounder Sam Curran from the starting Playing XI against Rajasthan Royals. Meanwhile, Jamie Overton has joined the team in Guwahati. Curran, however, has been named as one of the impact subs for CSK in the fixture. Rajasthan Royals, still finding their maiden victory in the season, have played an unchanged XI against CSK at their home.
CSK Playing XI against RR: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rachin Ravindra, Rahul Tripathi, Vijay Shankar, Jamie Overton, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Ravi Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Matheesha Pathirana, Khaleel Ahmed
