The day has finally come for Mayank Yadav to mark his return to the IPL. A star revelation in IPL 2024, the seamer's participation was stalled in the ongoing season due to a back and toe injury. However, a successful recovery has paved the way for Mayank Yadav to join the LSG Playing XI for the MI vs LSG IPL 2025 match. While Yadav's return is a big positive for LSG, the camp, in a shocking move, has dropped Shardul Thakur to make way for the primary pacer. Rishabh Pant won the toss at Wankhede and opted to bowl first in the afternoon clash before informing of the pace swap in the LSG Playing XI for the crucial fixture.

Shardul Thakur joined the LSG squad for IPL 2025 as an injury replacement for Mohsin Khan. The ace seam all-rounder, however, turned up as the top performer for LSG in the campaign swiftly. Across 9 matches, Thakur scalped 12 wickets to emerge as the top wicket taker for Lucknow Super Giants. Thus, it comes as a shocker that Shardul has been dropped from the LSG Playing XI for the MI vs LSG match. Apart from Mayank Yadav, LSG would rely on Avesh Khan for the pace attack.

Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, introduced over a couple of changes in their Playing XI for the home fixture. Spin all-rounder, Mitchell Santner misses out due to a niggle, as informed by skipper Hardik Pandya. Corbin Bosch will make his debut for MI. Meanwhile, Vignesh Puthur has been dropped as Karn Sharma replaces the young spinner in the MI Playing XI.
