Mumbai Indians are finally with their skipper Hardik Pandya in IPL 2025. The five-time champions started their campaign against CSK in Chennai, where Pandya sat out due to an overrate ban. Now, the team looks for its first victory of the season as Pandya joins the squad for the GT vs MI IPL 2025 match. Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first in Ahmedabad. A shocking announcement followed the toss, where Pandya revealed changes in the MI Playing XI. Vignesh Puthur, who rattled CSK’s middle order with three wickets on his debut, is not playing against GT. Meanwhile, Mujeeb-ur-Rahman has been included in the MI Playing XI for the second fixture of the season.

Vignesh Puthur marked an impressive debut in the CSK vs MI IPL 2025 campaign opener. The 24-year-old spinner, with no substantial experience in the senior domestic side, rattled CSK in the chase. Though Chennai took the game home, Puthur provided a chance to MI with his three strikes, including the wicket of CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. Surprisingly, the star of their campaign opener is missing from their Playing XI in the GT vs MI IPL 2025 game in Ahmedabad.

Winning the toss against Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya opted to bowl first. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, the injury replacement for Allah Ghazanfar in the MI squad, has been included in the Playing XI. With the team bowling first, Puthur was not even named as an impact sub. The reason behind dropping the youngster is still not clear. With Mitchell Santner already in the primary attack, Puthur's absence could be a tactical move on MI's part. The left-arm wrist-spinner exploited the conditions at Chepauk seamlessly. Meanwhile, Robin Minz made way for Hardik Pandya in the team. Will Jacks has been named as an impact sub, poised to join the team when their turn to chase arrives.
