Al-Hilal are hoping to sign legendary football player Cristiano Ronaldo according to a report in SportBible if and when he becomes a free agent next summer. He is currently contracted with Al-Nassr which ends in June 2025. However, Ronaldo is yet to pen a new deal with the club based out of Riyadh. The 39-year-old joined the Knights of Najd in 2023 and has performed superbly so far for them. Although Al-Nassr are yet to win any major trophy, Ronaldo has scored a stunning 68 goals so far for them in 78 appearances. He has also assisted in 18 goals for Al-Nassr.
Coming back to the reports of Al-Hilal looking to sign Ronaldo, the club is looking at him as a possible replacement for Neymar Jr. The top footballer joined Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 but hasn’t been able to make an impressive contribution yet. Featuring seven matches for the club, Neymar has scored only one goal while assisting in a couple.
His debut season with Al-Hilal was cut short due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. He returned to the field in October this year only to suffer another injury in the AFC Champions League clash against Esthegal on November 4.
Reportedly, Al-Hilal is set to end its association with Neymar due to his repeated injury struggles even though his contract with the club is until 2025. But with this move, the club is also hoping to sign Ronaldo and this can happen only if he doesn’t sign the contract extension with Al-Nassr.
Cristiano Ronaldo leads Al-Nassr to massive victory
Amidst talks of Al-Hilal hoping to sign him next season, Cristiano Ronaldo led Al-Nassr to a massive 5-1 win over Al-Ain in the ongoing AFC Champions League on Tuesday (November 5). The skipper also scored a goal, the team’s third, in the 31st minute in the clash that took place at Al-Awwal Park.
However, Ronaldo wasn’t on the field for the entire 90 minutes of play as he was substituted in the 79th minute with the result being a mere formality. Al-Nassr have now won three matches in four outings in AFC Champions League and are in third place but are just two points behind rivals Al-Hilal who are on top of the table.
