All you need to know about the UEFA Champions League Final 2025 date, venue, trophy and tickets

1. UEFA Champions League Final 2025 Date

The UEFA Champions League 2025 final will take place on May 31. It will commemorate the competition's 70th anniversary and the 33rd since it was renamed the UEFA Champions League. This late-spring setting has become a tradition, with UEFA typically scheduling the match for the last Saturday in May or the first in June. The final of the 2019/20 campaign took place on August 23 2020, due to the global coronavirus pandemic. Real Madrid FC, the reigning champions and record 15-time winners, are once again among the favourites to win the prestigious trophy.

2. UEFA Champions League Final 2025 Venue

Germany's Allianz Arena, the home of Bayern Munich, has been selected to host the UEFA Champions League 2024-25 final. However, it should be noted that the Munich stadium was initially set to host the 2022 Champions League final. In June 2024, the UEFA Executive Committee moved the 2020 final from Istanbul to Lisbon due to the impact of the COVID-19 virus hitting Europe. This decision affected the plans of the host cities for future events, leading them to postpone their initial commitments.

The stadium has a capacity of 70,000 to 75,000 spectators and hosted the 2012 Champions League final. The Allianz Arena will always be remembered for the infamous upset in 2012, which Chelsea won against FC Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. The Bavarian club's sporting director, Christian Nerlinger, described the unexpected defeat as "a nightmare." Talking about the latest Football news, the Allianz Arena currently hosts six UEFA Euro 2024 matches, including one of the two semi-finals.

In seven UCL finals held in Germany, teams from England (Nottingham Forest, Chelsea), Spain (Barcelona), the Netherlands (PSV Eindhoven), France (Olympique de Marseille), and Portugal (FC Porto) have all emerged victorious. Only one German team has ever won the iconic UEFA Champions League trophy on home turf - Borussia Dortmund's 1997 victory took place at FC Bayern Munich's stadium. The highlight of the European football club calendar returns to the German city for the first time since 2012.

3. UEFA Champions League Trophy

The iconic UEFA Champions League trophy will remain unchanged. The trophy has become legendary with huge handles and was nicknamed "Big Ears" after its introduction at the end of the 1966/67 edition. The original design was left with Real Madrid FC, who had won the first five editions of the competition. Since 2006, the Bertoni company, which also made the World Cup, Europa League, European Supercup, and African Cup of Nations trophies, has made the piece of silverware. Made entirely of silver, the UEFA Champions League trophy stands 73.5cm tall and weighs 7.5kg.

The Champions League winners will also have the opportunity to compete against the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners in the 2025 UEFA Super Cup. Before 2009, the competition winner could only keep the trophy by winning five Champions Leagues or three in a row. Only five clubs have had the right to keep the prestigious trophy in the past: Real Madrid FC, Ajax Amsterdam, FC Bayern Munich, AC Milan, and Liverpool FC. However, things have changed now. The winner of each edition receives a replica of the UCL trophy.

4. UEFA Champions League Final 2025 - How And Where To Buy Tickets?

Tickets for the matches leading up to the final will be sold on individual club websites. UEFA does not sell tickets for any match except the final. These tickets will be available once the league phase is drawn. Once the competition's finalists are known, tickets for the final are traditionally determined by ballot. UEFA has not officially announced information regarding ticket purchases for the 2025 UCL final. When seats are available, they can be purchased through the finalist clubs' websites and UEFA's official ticketing platform.

Die-hard football fans can expect to pay an average of over 21,000 INR to watch a league phase match for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Tickets for the 2024 final ranged in price from 6,350 INR to 64,500 INR. The most affordable tickets were for accessibility seating at Wembley, while the most expensive tickets were for the 'category 4' seats, which offered the best views of the pitch. This ticketing system will likely continue for the UEFA Champions League Final 2025.
